Jeanie briefly discussed moving back to Inglewood
Posting this since it’s being discussed everywhere but here. Biggest takeaway for me is that Jeanie never strikes me as someone qualified for her position.
Wonder how this flies with AEG, owners of Staples and a good chunk of the Lakers.

Isn't that where the new gorgeous football stadium is being built? Makes sense to make that the sports capitol of SoCal.

Re: Jeanie briefly discussed moving back to Inglewood
The downtown location never made a lot of sense to me for LA, but it did rejuvenate the city center... Not sure the Lakers could move out and not take a firestorm of ****...
That said, yeah... Jeannie Buss and Linda Rambis run the Lakers... Tell me that 30 years ago and I would have died laughing on the spot...
Also explains that we shouldn't read a whole lot into Kurt's role on the team, other than he's probably not going anywhere.
It also explains the stark difference between how Stern treated us and how Silver treats us... Stern almost seemed a little deferential up to the CP3 trade... It always felt like we got the benefit of the doubt with him... Silver treats us like we're wearing clown-shoes... And it seems like Jeannie eats it up...
This org has lost all it's prestige. We really do need West back, in a bad way.

The best part is that Steve Balmer will forever be Ballz now.

I'd been calling him Chumley up to today...

But Ballz is better...

Re: Jeanie briefly discussed moving back to Inglewood
The LA Times article said that the Lakers have a lease through 2025 and that they are looking to extend the lease.
But Staples is 20 years old already!
The big thing now is teams trying to build new arenas which they'd control, including for a lot of non NBA events, the revenues from which wouldn't be shared with the league and smaller market teams.
But it takes years and a lot of capital from the team to build an arena on its own.
Plus, I don't know that one venue could dominate the concerts and non NBA events in the LA area? Joe Lacob is counting on taking over a lot of the music concerts market in the Bay Area with Chase Center but LA has so many more concert venues.
Linda Rambis is Kurt's wife or something?

Yes, also a long term Lakers employee and Jeannie's best friend.

Well that's embarrassing... yikes. Probably shouldn't plot against or make fun of the guy across the hall that can buy your whole franchise with next weeks dividends... certainly shouldn't be doing it in a place that leaves a paper trail.

I'm sorry, but why wouldn't any smart owner have a discussion? You had a discussion....possibly a very short one.
You own a business...opportunities come and go. Some good, some bad. You 'discuss' em all, don't you?

Re: Jeanie briefly discussed moving back to Inglewood
My advice to Jeanie, much like your father, the less you are heard in the media the better... Work behind the scene and don't try to prove to the world and us that you can run the Lakers like your father... your brother Jim tried to run the Lakers out in public and how did that work out for him? Let the people you hired to run the basketball operations do their work and get out of their way... your father was loved by everyone he ever worked and associated with because he's never heard except only when he's being doused with champagne and hoisting championship trophies!!!

I said the master plan is that lebron buys the lakers after he retires.
However. His stink is so foul now i think he has to vacation out of country.
Lakers need new owners

Please to god leave the overpriced and overrated Staples Center for the Kings to be on their own there. A renovated modern Forum is perfect for the Lakers.
