A talented roster with more viable players. We don't need to chase stars but rather skillsets. For example, if we don't get Davis we need to move on to get a guy who can defend, rebound, block shots, and stay on the floor for 30 minutes with consistent reliable effort. In reality, Randle would've fit this role or Nance would've too. Derrick Favors could fit this role (27 years old and playing for his next contract = max effort all year). Dewayne Dedmon or Jordan Bell would even provide enough grit, but wouldn't give us 30 minutes. If we're swinging for the fences obviously we go after a younger guy like Myles Turner or even Mitchell Robinson while dangling our picks or minor assets.

We need to bring in another stud on the perimeter too. There are so many permutations that would be adequate I don't want to get into it, but I will say after watching Westbrook and George get rocked, perimeter should be the highest priority for the other stud (Bradley Beal please??).

1; Hiring a qualified president from the Hinkie, Myers, Buford, Ujiri, Presti tier. (I would see West as a short term hiring). Then let him decide which coach he would like to take.
2; Hiring a good coach: From the free agent coaches I'd choose Joerger - unfortunately reports telling that we are not interviewing him. We should keep ourselves away from Mark Jackson, Kidd and probably Lue as well. If there is no other option I would be ok w/ Monty or Juwan.
3; Signing one of the top younger free agents: Kawhi or Kyrie. (I think point 1 and 2 are pre-requisites to this)
4; Use Lonzo, Ingram and/or Kuzma to balance out the roster based on who we signed at point 3;


Realistically however we won't hire any POBO till late summer, and paralelly because of Lebron's pressure we will sign Lue to a 3-4 year deal. So when the free agency starts everyone will know that we neither have a plan nor an established culture plus Lebron will decide everything what happens on the floor. Therefore no top free agents will sign. We will then panic - because the rookie contracts of our top players starts to run out from 2020 and also Lebron is aging. So we will spend the available cap space on borderline all stars or mediocre players and then trade our young assets for someone who can contribute right away and for someone we can get. (If that's not Davis, then probably for a star that is getting washed up like Wall). We will have then 1-2 good years (borderline playoffs), then start over again (like the Knicks did w/ Amare and Anthony).

Not being humiliated in FA with star players refusing to even interview. Also not panicking and overpaying for B and C players because of Lebron's so called window.

Front Office: Hire a respected name as president. I would feel better about Rob if that person thinks he's capable, if not I would expect a new GM.

FA: any of Kemba, Jimmy, KD, Kawhi, Klay plus not 1 year contract mercinaries who can offer solid play and more long term lockeroom structure

Trade: I could take or leave a trade for AD depending on the outgoing talent. Definitely nothing like the Demps saga in negotiation or outgoing talent. Alternately I would love ditching LBJ for decent return and a brighter longterm future.

Throw everything and the kitchen sink at Bob Myers.
I'm not sold of any of the rumored future coaches, but I'd go with Monty if it's between those 3. If we get Myers first and he decides to interview other candidates, then I'd rather be someone else.

Plan A is and should be Kyrie. That's it.You kill two birds with one stone(Davis trade), every domino will fall afterwards.
Get Kyrie, trade for Davis(Ingram, Ball, Wagner and #11 is enough for the salaries to work... Boston is out of the sweepstakes with no Kyrie to entice Davis to stay past 2020, NO won't get anything better than that and will say yes).
Sign Marc Gasol with the room exception. He's got a player option and getting up there in age. He'll probably want to win one or two before he's done and Toronto is not an option if Kawhi leaves. He'll opt out and be on the market.
Sign Caruso to a lucrative guaranteed deal.
Keep Jonathan Williams and Jemerrio Jones as a 2 way players.
Sign Vince Carter-minimum deal.
Sign Wayne Ellington-minimum deal.
Sign Trevor Ariza-minimum deal.
Sign Ian Clark-minimum deal.
Sign Taj Gibson-minimum deal.

Landing a big free agent (ex: KD, Kawhi, Kyrie), I don't even care if they hired duds for coach/PBO at that point.

Hire best PoBO possible. Let that guy build the organization top down, let the new PoBO determine whether he wants to keep Pelinka and let him handle the coaching search unimpeded. Jeannie and Showtime Mafia all need to back the **** off and let the new hire work unmolested.

If Jeannie and Showtime Mafia keeps being a pain in the ass, all it does is hurt the new PoBO and kneecap him from doing the best job he can.

Personally, im kinda resigned to the Lakers basically signing Jimmy Butler or Kemba Walker for the max as their big splash move. Or maybe Boogie 2yr 40-50m + another 10-15m starter level player. I dont see NOP trading AD to us, so might as well just keep developing and praying the kiddie corps all take another step or find another trade option that helps balance the roster.

It's not ideal, but with the way the season ended up and with the utter turmoil in the FO and ownership, there's simply no chance in hell a top flight prime superstar is gonna join us. Butler is a huge age risk, but with Lebron's age, i think we're all in anyway. Kemba IMHO isnt worth the max but he's likely the 2nd best player than can be lured. Boogie is gonna wanna be paid and i see the Lakers being desperate enough to roll the dice, assuming if its Pelinka in charge.

Simply put the team needs some stability.

Major front office changes and then free agency has a few different options:

Go Outside the Family, Hire New President/GM:

A new president/GM is a must. If it's some sort of combination of Pelinka and Rambis, I'm going to lose it. Here's the guys I want in order:

Making a decision on the long term composition of the team. We have a superstar and some draft picks. They are not all part of a balanced lineup. We have a decision to make on Ingram or we risk another Randle situation going into his payday year. We have to settle our cap issue and sign a group of guys for longer than a year. That temporary crap kicking the can down the road is killing us as we get who's available and not who's compatible. Unfortunately the FO is looking for names and market makers it seems. We run the risk of being the Knicks where we cap ourselves out getting stars only to find out that some of them don't know how to play if they aren't the first option.

Balance the team. Make decisions with the youth and move on. Sign multiple players for longer than a year.

yup... this. Our zeal to get the top names will probably mean that we are connected to all of them just long enough for the team they really want to go to pony's up. We're the league leverage it seems.

For me it would be for lakers to first and foremost sign Klay, Leonard, or Durant. If not them I’ll take Kemba. Must sign another scorer and star.

Second to hire a respected and experienced coach ala Spoestra, Joerger, Carlisle, Van Grundy, or someone experienced. This needs to be an obvious upgrade over Luke.

Third to have a legit gm since I feel Rob will get promoted. Obviously this might have to be the first thing that happens.

Fourth like to stick with one of the young guns and make it clear and trade the other two. This way we can start being more loyal. So keep one of Ingram, ball or kuz.

Last trade the other two and try and get better and another allstar or an insanely good role player big.

This is more fantasy than realistic but

- Get lucky in the lottery (cough*brown paper bag full of notes to the commish*) and get the #1 pick, draft Zion, buy a second and pick Jontay Porter or Charles Bassey (probably the latter) and buy a higher second to pick up Dylan Winder from Belmont.
- S&T Lebron to the Clippers (he'll work with Doc and he's still in L.A, i'd imagine they'd build a roster around him), Kawhi to Lakers (clippers send something nominal like a future first or Zubac). Basically put, Kawhi puts in a 'i'll sign with the lakers if Lebron is gone' kind of request (in private) and publically states he'll come to L.A, we tell Lebron we're moving him on (i think he'd be fine with that given the fans have rejected him outright at this point).
- Lure Quin Snyder away from Utah
- Bring Jerry West home along with Ryan West as GM (if nothing else, our picks will be damn good again, impeccible drafting when he was with us)
- Ingram, Kuzma, Ball and Hart + 2020, 2022 firsts for A.D (celtics lose Irving to NYK, therefore lose all desire to move Tatum and Brown)
- Draft Zion
- Somehow land Kemba Walker (good timing on the trades and signings), if not, then Rubio
- Sign some cheaper F.A's, Sign Danny Green to the MLE, push for Patrick Beverly and see if he wants to come across town
- If Rondo and Bullock want to come back for the minimum, they can, if not, he can walk, everyone else can walk also.
- Other F.A's: Trevor Ariza, Al Farouq Aminu, Robin Lopez

Start shaping the roster for long term success not short term with Lebron

See current Buss brothers in FO and Ryan West given greater roles in FO /bring in an experienced BB mind or two to at least consult, we need more real world experience in the FO
