Good Things the Rambis's (Rambii?) have done for the Lakers

This may be recency bias (Rambis is probably the worst coach in the league over the last 10-15 years and has been responsible for some of our recent woes in the advisary department as well it would seem), but i genuinly can't remember Kurt Rambis has done related to the lakers that has been positive. He underachieved with a lakers team with Kobe and Shaq as head coach.

Like I genuinly want to know the good things Kurt Rambis has done (especially in a front office role) because I am actually at a loss.

Rambis, at one point was being groomed by Jerry West and Mitch Kupchack to be Mitch's successor when he eventually replaced West...
Obviously none of this happened but he was highly thought of but them...
Then Phil was grooming him to be his successor when he retired... So he was highly thought of by him as well, and still is apparently.

I think Kurt caught Shaq and Kobe at the wrong time... Shaq wanted Phil and was not interested in what Rambis had to say... It was a tough gig for basically a rookie coach.

That said, I have nothing tangible I can point to that says Rambis deserves a seat at the table in our FO right now.

Kurt isn't the biggest problem, at least he's got a bball background.

It's Linda and Jeannie's nepotistic relationship that isn't well perceived

Not sure about his wife but Kurt gave us some toughness and rebounding when my namesake left.

I'm a big Kurt Rambis fan, but it's hard to say he underachieved with Kobe and Shaq. It was literally his first time coaching, and the Lakers threw Dennis Rodman at him. He was Jackson's lead assistant, passing up his old team which is impressive. When D'Antoni added him to the staff as a defensive coach, the team's defensive rating jumped considerably (not top 10, but the roster wasn't top 10 either). With regards to his coaching record, he was hired by Minnesota to run the triangle but clearly the Kahn wasn't on the same page as he drafted 3 point guards in Rambis's first year. Rambis would never get the roster he needed to run the triangle well there. With the Knicks, cmon. The Knicks were a dumpster fire and remain a dumpster fire--the coach doesn't matter there.

All that being said, I really can't defend what he's doing here. The coaches they're bringing out suggest that they're stuck in the past (Hollins, Woodson, Vogel) or trying to appease Lebron--though this is at least a little defensible. The insistence that he be on the coaching staff sounds like a trust issue that Jeannie has--she's alluded to needing someone she can trust. But then again, the lakers have never been super innovative with their coaching decisions...
