Anthony Davis traded to the Lakers

With the addition of #4 to the asset pool, and with Kyrie likely signing elsewhere (thus probably eliminating or reducing Boston's commitment to trade), how likely is it that the Lakers acquire Davis?

Seems like LA is Davis's first choice of destination.
Lakers do have a nice pool of assets.
However, there's obviously tension among the two franchises because of the Klutch sports link.

What are your thoughts, can the Lakers acquire Davis in the off-season?

I'd say extremely assuming Griff doesn't want the same offer Demps did.

To make the deal work financially like 6 players have to be outgoing, so we'll lose a chunk either way. Also we'd have to pick for them and sign the pick to make the cash work so it would be an agreement in principle until that happens and we also figure out who we are spending on in FA.

If Im David Griffin, I gotta move AD. There’s no reason to believe offers are going to be any better near the deadline when teams don’t have cap space any more so they’re less able to make the money work. With Zion, they have a chance to start over and get everyone excited. No need to have this AD thing over their head, just start totally fresh.

Zion
Hunter
Ingram
Holiday
Ball

Feels like a solid line up in Gentry's fast paced offense.

I'd love to see Davis in Lakerland as I think the NBA is more exciting with both Lakers and LeBron going on deep playoff runs. If they do it together that would be fantastic.

I Believe the Lakers after aquiring the #4 pick they now have the best and NO might not want to deal with the Lakers but now that they got Zion.

It might be the best business move to get the most they can get for AD. AD might say he has some places he will not re-sign with.

The Lakers should not offer more than the #4 is now the most valuable asset because of the potential to pick high

#4, BI, Lonzo Hart

or

#4, Kuzma, Hart Lonzo

No more than three plus the #4 because that is actually the 4 players and the #4 if picked correctly could be a very good player next to Zion.

I kinda doubt NO wants to deal but it might be there best to get the highest pick possible now to go with Zion.

Hope the Lakers don't overpay for AD. Use the cap space to absorb some of AD's salary. If another max FA is willing to sign then trade assets for picks to create room.

So, I’m in the market for a new home. My wife and I are looking to sell our current home and move into a house that comes with an in ground pool and covered patio.
Now, on account of our modest budget and desire to be within city limits, it precludes us from finding the “perfect” house.
The house hunt has lead us to a variety of homes, those of which offer balanced indoor and outdoor living and others that shine more prominently to one end of the spectrum.
I see some parallels to my individual house hunt to the Lakers team building mission.
While I would love to bring in AD now, seemingly it may come with a steep cost, as if I’m settling for a 2 bedroom home with severe structural damage but with an exquisite pool and patio. Maybe it’s just me, but I rather live comfortably. In other words have a healthy and robust squad to surround Lebron and possibly one or two of our talented young guys.

Should we pursue AD, may I suggest we do so responsibly during the season when things may be more affordable. That is following a summer in which some nice, reasonable priced additions were brought in which we could potentially use for future trades.

With the Celtics all but out of the Pelicans sweepstakes, and our trade kicker leverage, why do people still think we're going to be giving up everything to get AD?

The market changed... The old offers aren't there anymore.

The Pelicans value having 2 high lottery picks in this draft a hell of a lot more than dicking around with AD until the season begins, in the desperate hope that another asset or 2 might become available.

Hopefully they select #4 for NO, but the actual trade doesn't go through until after Kawhi is signed. Not sure why NO wouldn't agree to waiting unless they want the Lakers cap space as part of the deal.

I agree. LAL would be dumb to offer the same package. That offer was for the LAL to make a run this season. Now it’s off the table. On principal alone I am not offering the same package especially after how and they used the media to make the LAL look bad. I’ll come back to the table but it’s gonna be on a middle ground. I wouldn’t offer the world for a player who can D12 us in 12 months regardless of his guarantees. BOS/NYC/BRK/LAC probably are the most logical other destinations so you have to hear the offers and figure out what you need to beat. LAC could have a great offer with picks included so that would be something for NOP if they would include the MIA FRP. Does AD wanna be in LAC w/ LBJ in LAL? If they got Kawhi I think AD would love the opportunity

It is nice in theory to say "LAL would be dumb to offer the same package" but 1) nobody knows what the package actually was, and 2) the package will have to include several of the best assets due to salary matching if the Lakers keep enough room to sign a max FA.

Obviously the trade will be agreed in principal but they won’t complete the deal until after free agency so the LAL can sign a a top flight free agent if possible of course. Trading for AD would be great but still think they need to add at least a player like Jimmy Butler. I wonder if Kemba Walker will consider LAL. Is MJ going to offer Kemba the supermax? After Wall just got that contract it’s only been nothing but regrets from WAS. Klay Thompson would be the ultimate get with AD in tow in my opinion besides making a homerun grab of Kawhi. KD won’t even consider the LAL after going to GSW. If the LAL got Kawhi/AD I wonder if KD rethinks leaving GSW. I keep hearing BRK is getting Kyrie which is surprising to me with NYK in play he grew up a NETS fan.

It doesn't seem like Griffin wants Lonzo:

I question how Griffin views Ingram since he had a blood clot. I could imagine there's a concern this could be another Bosh situation plus he's in contract year.

Very possible that could be the case but Ingram is very young compared to Bosh being close to 30. I would think Ingram’s ceiling has to be a bit higher longterm if he can put it all together. I think he’s a future all-star so we will see
