You need a guard who can hit threes and defend.

Alex Caruso: 50% C&S 3-PT, 36.8% DFG, (versatility, size, weak side defense, $77,000)

Seth Curry: 50% C&S 3-PT, 41% DFG (proven elite shooter, $2.8m)

TJ McConnell: 47% C&S 3-PT, 43.5% DFG (can run an offense, chase small guards, $1.6m)

Other names mentioned:

-Beverley will be too expensive, and at 31, injury risk for a long term contract.
-Quinn can't play defense (50.6% DFG), Collison slipped (47.2% DFG)
-Cory Joseph (36% catch and shoot threes is not great)
-Rubio (33.7% catch and shoot threes)
-Rondo's defense has slipped (48.5% DFG)
“OH! Caruso parachutes in! You cannot stop him - you can only hope to contain him!” -Kevin Harlan, LAL-GSW 4/4/19

Caruso has a career aver o 39.8% from the 3pt area for 62 games and yes I agree with you about his defense, size etc.
Collison has a career 39.4 3pt% and the last time he averaged below 37% was in 2012. My concern is that he is very selective taking them only takes about 2-3 for the whole game. I like TJ but I don't think, Philly won't let hm go, same with the Clips with Beverly.

I like Dlos skillset. Can shoot. Lengthy. Good vision, passing. But i just dont like his defensive speed. Which is slow at best. Speed liability up top vs the speed guards of the league

This. Plays well off the ball. Necessary with LeDon.

I just hope and pray his numbers and defensive intensity won't go down after he sign that guaranteed contract.

i will lakers fan again if Dlo comes back. 22-24 mil should seal the deal. His defense improve quite a bit last yr..was able to fight through pick and rolls to get back to his man. Lakers offense should give him more post up and face up jumpers in the paint. Just sign a david nwaba or patick beverly to play defense against the better guards of other team. Lakers can also resign McGee or Brook Lopez on cheap 1 yr deals.

i actually don't think he'll rejoin the Lakers... it would take a couple of chips to fall into place for that to happen, most of it would be out of the Lakers hands, would take a couple weeks to unfold and I'm not sure the Lakers would wait that long or be willing to let other players go by in hopes that Russell becomes available

I'm not sure D'Lo works but if he is willing to get his mindset into a win now attitude, we might consider it.
I don't think he is a fit.
Trying to build something for now.
Beverley is my desire.
But I don't know if he will fit contractually unless he is in for the desired run here.

The previously mentioned PB/RR pairing would be nice to have.

Its the financials that I think will get in the way of getting want we need.

I keep looking at filling the bench first then see what we have remaining that fits available $$$ remaining.
So, Caruso, Rondo, __?__ player, would be a good rotation.
"IF" Beverley would consider us, these are good backups.
Health and consistent rotations gets us into the playoffs without injuries; which will happen.

Pelinka and the staff will have their hands full trying to sell this to potential FAs.

add...
for what its worth,
Alex Caruso signed thru 2019-2020 season.
Cap $$$ :
$1,443,842

Does anyone know if Alex is a roster spot or still a G League player?

Does anyone have an idea what to do for a very good point guard. Rajon Rondo was very effective when he was healthy but who is the starting point guard. Option number two is running the offense through Lebron as a point forward. I would like to wait and see what the management is going to do.

Yuck!!

Dlo for 22-24 million without D?

I would rather use the money if we miss on Kawhi to go after Beverley for 10 million then add Dedmon, Lance and Bullock. Then we can add vet min guys like Korver and a few others to fill out our roster including Caruso and Williams.

I bet Dlo would be a real backup plan for us and the media is running with this Dlo back to LA crap.
