He makes like 16 mil rn. If he gets bought out by the Grizzlies, should we try to pursue him on a vet min / exception 4-5 mil deal - do we have one of those?

Elite perimeter defender and transition ball handler. We need both.

We should have the tax MLE, which isn't a lot... I think it's around $6M...

Getting Iggy would be great, but it sort of makes you wonder what Kuzma is going to be doing. The full MLE is kind of a lot to spend on a 6th man, when you already have one.

That said, it isn't a bad problem to have.

It'll be money well spent on Iggy. A self-less player with excellent defensive IQ (perimeter and transition D) and decent outside shooter.

Iggy's about to get bought out so I can't imagine he wouldn't take the veteran's min.

Kuzma is a starter. He was one All last year after like put him in the rotation, and he was the second most productive one besides lebron period. You can let that idea go.

As for Iggy, we have the room exemption which is 4.7mil. He might just start for this team honestly in the back court with Kawhi and be the main playmaker, defender, and glue guy like a Harper.

No matter who we sign, Iggy or Green, I see them starting in a big back court while lebron is the true pg

All depends the guy who got outed on reddit and the other one said that Iggy was haggling over price point as Memphis didn’t want to give him a lot to buy him out, which is why he may not be interested in vet min. If the Griz make him forfeit most of his cash, he may ask for more than the min which is needed on his end to recoup his losses.

A guy like Korver is just going to take what’s guaranteed which is his 3mil. A guy like Iggy has all his money guaranteed so if he loses 20-30% he’s going to get hit hard

I thought the vets min we would pay him is just subtracted from what the Grizzlies are paying him through the buyout. So there's no incentive for him to ask for more from us. Is this right anyone?

I think he's best used as a bench PG(he was a PG earlier in his career) / secondary ball handler and sometimes as a starters for particular matchups. He is 34 going 35 after all.

The thought of him and Kawhi on perimeter D just got me wet.

What does what he has made have to do with what he should accept? He’s worth more than 2mil. He’s proven that off his defense alone, let alone playmaking and playoff/finals experience

If bum ass Ariza can get paid, Iggy damn sure can

He’s won finals mvp, 3 rings, been to 4 streaight finals, was a top defender still by defensive metrics, and he would be better than any other guy who would take the exemption beside Cousins. It’s not his job to say oh I made 150, let me cut them a bigger deal

Then he can go get it somewhere else.

On this market he will. Just don’t complain when Cousins or KCP or Javale get it

He doesn't need the Lakers as much as the the Lakers need him. I'd be pretty happy if we used the exemption on him, if he doesn't settle for the vet min.

There are multiple rumors some of which were posted in the free agency thread that he plans to sign here when released.

We need a C more than another F if it comes to that. AD does not want to play C. We need AD to be happy.

He's paid regardless, I think any money given to him just offsets his previous team. I think just give him the minimum for a year and re-sign him after that.

I'm starting to think the MLE will be saved for Green or Cousins.

How much does he have left in the tank at 35? I've always liked his game overall. He'd be a great addition if there is even a shell of his former self left. That said, what happened to his FT's the last couple years..... shooting in the 50's... Yikes!

I think Lebron respects him alot, because Iguodala was always the warriors defender defending lebron. He can give 10 - 15 minutes off bench.

Iggy is still an outstanding talent with managed minutes. There is no question, if given the opportunity I would easily offer him the vet minimum. Now, depending on how things work out with the rest of the lineup I may be open to give him the room exception; approx. $4.6M.
