right, and in addition Lakers have only one pick in the next two drafts plus whatever second rounders they buy.

2020 (1) own, (2) to ORL (THT trade)
2021 (1) to NO unless top 8 (AD trade), (2) to DET (Bullock trade)

They will have both first-round picks in next two years.

Knew this was eventually coming, as I expect him to go join Jerry. Our scouting department has been the only thing in our organization that has been well run in recent years. Now we’ll get a chance to see who was the real magician behind the scenes, Ryan or Jesse. Hopefully it really was as much Jesse as Ryan.

Yea, never got the vibe he was next in line to take over a prominent role. Always felt be was overrated by many on this board.

Ryan West has been the director of player personnel for a few years now, he hasn’t been in the scouting department. Scouting department is headed by Jesse Buss.

That's precisely why he seems to be leaving.

So he eventually wanted the GM job but realized his window closed with the Lakers becoming a contender under Rob?

We let him leave why? He's one half of a very good team (the other being Jesse Buss) in terms of drafting and he's found some very good gems. Honestly he should have been in line for an assistant GM gig with a long term plan to become GM. Unless his dad has a role lined up at the clippers.

I hope he has a GM gig lined up because he's that good.

Oh no, I meant the articles over the last 5 years or so. They haven't changed at all actually, they have been all praise for Jesse Buss's scouting ability even when Jim and mitch were in charge. It is kinda sad though that Jesse and Ryan are getting in positions to move up the ladder. Jesse with the Lakers and Ryan wherever he goes. We had something special going there the last 7 years.

yeah....
id guess with so many changes and the Klutch influences, that he might consider a role somewhere without all what we have going on.
