This will probably come down to who LeBron and AD want to play with more... No clear winners here.

But if we want a guy who can battle McGee for starting minutes, then I guess Howard is probably the choice, but if all we're looking for is solid C minutes behind McGee, then I'd go for Gortat.

I think Noah is completely washed...

Here are his 25 point and 23 point outings in Summer League this year. He's a 6'11 C and is about to turn 24. He has similar offensive feel as Kevin Love but a better defensive presence without the elite rebounding and full-court passing ability.

He wants to play in NBA but has signed with Europe, it might be possible for him to get out of it if an NBA team wants him enough.

This is interesting

His stats for 4 summer league games were: 26 mins for 18pts/7rebs/1.3asts. 8/18 (45%) 3pt and 12/14 (86%) FT.

If Lakers can get that good of a shooter at the 5 spot who is not a negative on defense and is only 24 years old, then they should do it. They could surround LeBron and AD with 3 guys that are 40%+ from beyond the arc and none would be a let-down defensively.

He wants a contract and roster spot if he's going to leave Europe, doesn't want a two-way. That's the gamble Lakers need to take but they will get to see him in the World Cup. In fact, he will match up against team USA twice in the next 4 days in exhibition games. Hopefully, Lakers have done their homework on him because there are already a few teams waiting to pounce on him apparently.

So was Howard's "Gluteal Injury" that kept him out all but 9 games last season, legit?
Or was it just code for him being a general pain in the ass?

I don't know exactly if he is still in good playing condition currently but his post all star break averages for 13 games are
11 pts, 8 rebs, 3.4 assists, 1.1 blocks in 21 mins/game. [https://www.espn.com/nba/player/splits/_/id/3224/joakim-noah][/url]
ranked 23rd among 71 centers last season with a +1.12 ahead of Randle, Pachulia, Len, Mcgee etc etc.

Gortat can do what we need from our C.

So can Noah.

Howard? Nah.

Speights? Nah.

This. I loved Noah on the bulls. But he is extremely injury prone. He won’t make it long next year. We need durability. Dwight or Gortat fit that.

I think Noah actually has as bit of a Pau-like comeback in him. He did well in something like 40 games last year. Previously the injuries and super expensive contract were the issue.

I do like the Offensive backup capabilities of the Polish Hammer

Again, I come in peace. Gortat is the LAST person you'd want. That dude is done. There's a reason he wasn't picked up after the Clippers waived him. He was a liability on both ends of the floor and he along with Bradley made our starting line up get into holes early in the game and the bench would have to come in and bring them back. Noah is a much better option. Hell, even Howard but Gortat should just retire at this point, he's terrible.

Noah has been putting in lots of work, I think he could be primed for a good year.

So.... Howard didn't play last year because he was Butt-Hurt? Makes sense.....

Gortat is done. He was trash on the Wizards and looked even more done on the Clippers. Give me Noah. I'd also take a flier on Faried.

Say what you want about Noah, he’s one of the hardest workers in the league. Extreme gym rat.

If Gortat is done, there’s only Noah left to consider in my mind. Unless we go to the Euroleague.

God, I think I'm coming around on the idea of Dwight.

Noah is still my preference.

Noah has had a lot of time to rest and I think he is as hungry as anyone to prove himself and also to get a chance to win a chip. He has had a history of injuries here and there so that is a concern, but those games he missed during his seasons in New York mainly weren't because of injury but because he got into it with Hornacek and also got caught with PEDs. Still, that was his only bad stint in his career, and I think he can be a solid addition off the bench.

Tristan Thompson IF he gets bought out could be a solid choice also. I don't think the Lakers are going to rush their decision.

Leaning towards Noah now because of the following:

- IQ
- grit
- intensity
- passing
- relentlessness
- health

I've made it clear on this thread before and I'll make it clear even more with more in depth analysis. As for the center position for the Los Angles Lakers, I am taking the 3x defensive player of the year in Dwight Howard. Dwight Howard for his entire career has been durable in comparison to Noah. Noah is a better passer however play making is not what the Lakers are in need of. The Lakers need someone who can bang with the other 7 footers. Dwight has been banging downlow for his entire career. In addition to this Dwight is built for the center position and look at his shoulders he can carry that position just like he carried the Orlando Magic to the final (Hot Take Alert). Noah can pass the ball well but between the 2/3 guys slated at the point guard, then with LeBron and AD we don't need another play maker/passer. We need someone who can get in the game, alter shots, block shots, rebound, hold down the paint and run up and down the court like the gazelle. That someone is the former #1 pick straight from high school, Dwight Howard.

Imagine Rondo, and LBJ just throwing up lob passes to McGee, Dwight, or AD. We’d be lob city on steroids...I’m all in on Dwight.

Noah can’t shoot for ****, and Speights is a big that likes to shoot 3s and misses a lot...

I mean if you can get over LeBron joining the Lakers, you can get over Dwight coming back to the Lakers.
