L.A. needs a center to replace Boogie. Who should it be?

I hate Dwight but dude averaged like 12 points and 8 boards the last time he played. He can still rebound and play defense. Two things we need

Joakhim Noah is the best option as an FA

Mejri is the close second-best option and not getting discussed enough on here. He's not on your list but he started hitting 3s last season.

A big no on D12.

How would we go about getting Nerlens Noel?

Khem Birch is pretty interesting as well. Mainly because the Magic have Augustin who would be a great addition to the Lakers.

DMC, Cook, Daniels and 2020 1st for Augustin and Birch

If Lakers can get Iggy or Thabo as a backup SF then it'd be worth keeping Cousins for playoff return and instead move Bradley, Cook, Daniels for Augustin and Birch so you can retain the 1st.

Augustin, Green, LeBron, AD, McGee
Caruso, KCP, Iggy, Kuzma, Birch

This team is nicer fitting than the one before Cousins went down IMO.

Monroe is a decent choice as is Noah. I've always liked Faried but he's not a true 5. No to Howard and I really don't think we're trading Kuzma for a back up center. Man the borderline hate for him here is truly interesting. Arguably the best young guy we've gotten in many ways traded for a 15 min a game back up center? Really?

A trade really doesn't make sense. I also don't think we can rely on Noah....Dwight is probably the best fit basketball wise, but I don't want him anywhere near this team.

I like Faried here....He can finish strong and throw down lobs. With our current roster, those two attributes are huge imo. While Noah's leadership and defense would be nice to have, I don't think his defensive impact makes up for what we'll be giving up on the other end. I don't see Noah bringing much more than Chandler did last year....the hustle and rim protection will make him have his moments, but his slow feet will frustrate us on defense, and he will be a liability on offense. Atleast someone like Faried can hurt teams playing off of him on the offensive end.

But yeah....Dwight would be perfect if he wasn't such a little b word. He's far from the Dwight of old, but even at this washed up stage, I don't think there is a better combination of rim protector or finisher/lob catcher available in the free agency pool. The other guys can give you either one or the other.

Anyone have thoughts on Mejri?

He's a fiery big guy that can block a lot of shots and even started stepping out for 3s.

An alternative solution is to trade with Memphis. Give them a little extra so that they payout Iggy to then go to the Lakers.

Something like THT and a pick for Rabb works for salary. It's an overpay but they then buyout Iggy and he comes to the Lakers.

Get a Euro veteran C. We need three specialized skills out of our C (besides being 7’ tall)

1) Anchor the low post defense
2) Rebounding (boxing out)
3) Set screens

BroLo would’ve been good to have right now.

I'd give bynum a chance before I'd sign Howard, knowing full well that Howard is likely better...

I bet we will not sign anyone to fill Cousins's shoes before his operation on his knee is finished. If he could not return this whole season, we sign another center. If he is ready to play, say 10 games before playoff, we may wait for him. Keep the roster spot for Iggy.

We have too many guards, we should trade 1 or 2 come the trade deadline for a center if we are to wait for Cousins. Before the trade, utilize the 2-way contracts.

For me, if Cousins is done for the season (not coming back for playoff), I'd go after Dwight Howard. He seems to have matured and is still a defensive anchor at this stage/age. He has improved with a mid range jumper which give him an edge over Farid on my list. Did Farid even improved a bit since his Denver days?

Be patient!!! until we have a clearer picture on Cousins's return date. Jontay Porters started workout 5 months after he first tore his ACL though he tore it again in the workout.

Noah OR bring back Bynum

Or are there any combo PF/C?
