Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it, I think Flippers gut their depth for Westbrook.

What depth? If PG or Kawhi are not in the deal, then they have to trade Lou, Bev, Zu, and Kenard all for Russ.Then they have no bench players as Ibaka has to move to starting 5 :lol:

I would trade PG for Russ though for the luls because he fits what HArden needs more and their playoff chokes would be epic. And to see Russ shoot Kawhi out of town would be crazy

I would loooove to see Westbrook go to that unnamed team. Haha I would root for this guy to totally bully kawhi and take over as ringleader there. I may actually start feeling for that team.

Well then, Glenn Robinson III went to the Queens. I guess Dudz and a center it is then.

Not ideal, who on the Lakers is defending big wings. Missed on Josh Jackson and Glenn Robinson.

Let's be honest here. It does help that Clutch is basically just another Lakers executive at this point.

If Batum is done, thanks Mitch. If he’ll resurge now and pkay like he did a few years back, we need to watch out. They just added Ibaka and Batum.

Don’t laugh but we have a 6’11” young stud who moves his feet like a three. Play him so gets the minutes needed to develop.

Kostas is better than most here think.

Are we forgetting that LeBron is a big wing as well that can defend big wings?

Haven't seen much of Kostas, how do you know he's ready?

I use my eyes and look at clips. Ask myself questions, like:

* is he defensively engaged, vocal leader?
* how quickly does he recognize he needs to rotate?
* does he time his screens well and hold enough?
* does he exploit mismatches?
* play well without the ball?
* can he handle?
* score a high %?
* is he liked by his team mates?
* can he 3PT the floor for LBJ and AD to cut?
* does he recognize when to cut?

Oh, and yes:
* is he an athletically gifted freak of nature even by NBA standards?

The answer is yes on all counts. Physically they all fill in. Not the same with the brain department.Kostas got it, just needs minutes.

Now, run those questions against Tyrus Thomas. On every single line item the answer is no.

This is not good:

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/260681/NBA-Has-48-Positive-COVID-19-Tests-Out-Of-546-Players

Almost 10%? Really? Smart. With pre symptom spread, should we guess 100 players if we knew all infections? Why the f people can’t wear masks and isolate for a bit beats me. It’s the plague!

This is going to bring the season to a halted start. Bubble season? Yay!

I was trying to talk COVID in some other forums (Warriors, specifically) but folks seemed more interested in defending Joe Lacob's much-trumpeted genius than talking about the seriousness of the issue and player management. Glad it's here now (and just noticed this thread- excellent verb invention, Beethoven, "mediocritizing" lol).

I was basically interested in how it's cool to let players do their thing in general and show them the respect they deserve as the reason this sport and league exist at all, but once we knew the season had a start date and would not be in even regional bubbles really, it seems like that was the time to show some strong team infrastructure and get everyone same page. Would be interested to know which teams had better numbers (2 out of 18 players for the Ws is about league average, for example, right?) and which players it was. Not for rude purposes and player shaming, or even for Warriors shaming if two of their major stars had big health issues btw Klay's catastrophe and Curry getting the 'rona from Charles Barkley or something- and their privacy is important, of course- but to know what sorts of player groups are more subjected to risk.

My hypothesis wouldn't surprise anyone, I'm sure: less secure players and newer players would have a less controlled set of living and training conditions in general. Injury still possible obviously. Curry, Lebron, and big public league stars may have crazy busy schedules with travel, such as golf tourneys and shoe brand release events, but they also have nice home gyms and private training set ups that are highly publicized. Warriors PR is already hyping Wiggins' offseason bulk up, incidentally, and it looks like their usual All Star/popularity metrics gaming so far. Lakers, on the other hand, taking care of business and a clear team plan and not saying anything about COVID numbers/fear or bragging about how good guys look offseason lol. Stark contrast there. And I'd be interested to know how their COVID numbers look right now.
