He’s back!

Never play him next to LBJ again, please.

thebigbird wrote:Rondo is the most dangerous type of player in the entire NBA. He is complete trash but has convinced his team and the casual fan that he still has it. That means that he's going to keep getting undeserved minutes and keep cratering the team during them.

Last night he had a 77.4 offensive rating and a 109.1 defensive rating, for a -31.7 net rating. In the first half he had a 77.8 offensive rating in a game in which the Lakers scored 74 first half points and led by 33. His 5.6 first half net rating was by far the worst on the team. KCP was the next lowest at... 19.5.

Rondo can't keep playing if the Lakers want to be a contender. He is horrendous on both sides of the ball.

Sounds like Kobe's last 4 years..

Except that he makes the vet minimum, and other players still wanna come play for the Lakers now.

The problem with that is he's been much better this summer playing with Lebron than he has without Lebron, surprisingly.

I wouldnt be surprised if he regularly leads prayer amongst some of the guys prior to games and such.

I like him better as a player’s coach and defensive strategist than as a player.

Played great tonight, and spent all night trying to get the guys who should have been fired up for this game, fired up...

Rondo has his limitations, but I think unless you absolutely need his spot for someone clearly better, you just keep him for the playoffs.

Isn't that acceptable for a vet minimum contract?

God this is the worst thing I've read all week. Vogel is going to screw around and make the Lakers lose a ring because he thinks Rondo was "swag" when he's on the court. WTF does that even mean? Oh wow, Rondo has so much SWAG when the team gets its ass kicked when he's on the court.

It's coach talk man. Don't look much further into that. He's trying to keep the team connected.

Politics. When he has to sit rondo, he will. He's shown that in games before Caruso re-aggravated his hamstring injury

There's no reason to have a player on the team that you have to play because of "politics," though. The numbers show a season long trend of bad play, and the coaching staff is completely ignoring it. That's a big problem.

Resigning him was the worst thing they could've done because this was exactly what would happen. They're forced to play him because otherwise Rondo will become a locker room cancer like he has on multiple teams in the past.

I actually got a chance to read the article inside that twitter link and to be honest, he's not wrong. The playoffs is pressure and some guys might told under it and rondo does have a poise and he's banking on that poise to lead them through.

But I also think it's coach talk. Politics, keep the guy lock in, kinda thing but I see his point.

I don't think rondo is good anymore. I think he's washed but you never know.

His explanations for Rondo's terrible numbers were silly. It would be one thing if this was an occasional thing. When the team consistently craters when he's on the court, you have to start thinking that Rondo's the problem. It's troubling to me that Vogel notices the numbers but chooses to ignore them. Many other franchises rely heavily on analytics, and yet we have Vogel talking about Rondo's "swag" to excuse the terrible analytics. The Lakers don't need Rondo's "poise" during the playoffs. They have LeBron. Rondo has only won 1 playoff series since 2012. This insistence by Vogel to play Rondo despite him killing the team when he's on the court is going to cost the Lakers a game in the playoffs at the least.

Even if he doesn’t play a minute in the playoffs, having him as player strategist in chief is worth the money. In a seven game series, Rondo’s mental savvy will be well worth it all.

I hope Dion takes minutes from Rondo, not Caruso.

Fans who don’t like Rondo can’t see his strengths. Those who do can’t see his weaknesses. He’s polarizing. Like the psycho GF that you still can’t get off your mind.

I think a lot depends on matchups, how they execute and energy. Everyone not named Lebron and AD will have a short leash. Take the case of Dwight vs the Clips, who just played 7 mins because of missed assignment and lack of energy.
Rondo played more because Lebron was in attack mode, Rajon also spotted shooters, Caruso would have been ok if PG didn’t easily shot over him. Green was not making any impact, missed a wide corner 3 while KCP and Bradley nailed shots so they played more... its a game to game thing
