Truly when we look at our record there shouldnt be any complaints bc from the second we talk about they should do this and that and it results in even 1 loss people will say oh they should have just stuck with what was working before. But here i just want to talk about how other people would want lakers to play their offense different from how they are right now. My idea is that the offense that lakers struggle to defend is the way lakers should play at times not always but at times. That offense to me is constant moving from off the ball pick and roll to shoot open 3s. Granted lakers arent a great 3pt shooting team and i believe part of it is bc we either have to play top notch defense to run a fast break for transition 3 or have lbj or davis create for them. probably its the reason why i like shooters who run around screens and shoot as soon as they recieve the pass like korver or bertans type of player. I wont say they should play like this on every play bc lakers are a solid half court team but we have to mix it up once in a while so it wont get as predictable come playoff time. Usually this offense is ran when teams have mostly young players but lakers have shooters who cant shoot open or wont shoot good in a slow pace offense so i think its a good idea to let these shooters get going letting them see the ball get in the hoop more often. Plus this is the type of offense that lakers at times struggle to defend bc opponents big set up a nice hard screen to get open and dont often switch as much as the rest of the league. Again its jus my preference and not saying its an absolute solution jus saying its the type of O i would like to see lakers run at times to get going.

Yeah, it's so easy to just be lazy to say, well, they have a great record, tops in ORTG AND DRTG so we shouldn't complain but my biggest concern is their over reliance on their 2 superstars. One if 35 yrs old while the other has a history of missing many games bec of a variety of injuries. Both guys are playing nearly 35 mins/game with James not missing any games with over 52 games left in the next 4 months.
Whether asking shooters to run around and use picks, or better motion offense or screen-rolls etc, they have to figure out ways to have a better offensive system that can alleviate the pressure of Lebron and AD to play heavy minutes.
Vogel has used KCP for some curl plays and screen rolls etc and it generated some points but they need other players to contribute more. Frank also tries to use Daniels to spot up from 26+ feet etc. It's not like other players are also playing heavy minutes.
I just can't see why they wouldn't devise 4-5 half court sets involving Rondo, Green (best corner shooter) Daniels etc, practice them hard so they can help score points while Lebron AND AD are resting. What Vogel is doing is he makes sure Lebron or AD is on the court EVERY FREAKING possession. Clippers, Bucks and even Kings have found ways to score when their superstars are resting. I'm not saying Luke is better than Frank but.... can't they just draw some effective plays from others?

I think todays game proved that frank needs to have offense plays that dont feature lebron or davis and need to run plays for other guys to get going. too much reliance on the star is not a recipe for success and i hope frank realize this quick. i would rather see this team win with different plays have the highest pts otherwise we are screwed

but a few spaces in that writing would do wonders .... we only really winning agmes cause of defense anyway not so much the O

I think big minutes for AD and LeBron, is just a symptom of the obvious structural problems with the team...

What the last few games have shown me, coupled with what we've seen all season, is that Vogel has zero faith in the bench. Seems like he's right... But you can tell by how he never lets much time pass with both Davis and LeBron on the bench and tries to stagger them as much as possible. The result is a playoff-like rotation and ton of minutes for both of them. But that's why we've been winning games.
I think FV realized the wheels were off the bench mob when Cousins went down and Kuzma was banged up.
I would love to see what happens when Kuzma gets back, if we could pick a home stand and try giving the bench guys a bunch of minutes to see if it brings them together a bit.

This just isn't our season if we don't get some consistent bench production from multiple guys, or we get Toronto-lucky going through the playoffs.

Yeah... we've won on defense and the stars to date. I agree, getting Kuzma back and somehow looking like last year is a key to the whole thing going forward but I'd also point out that we've played pretty damn good ball with contributions from the "rest" of the team on most nights. Last night, for some reason, Danny Green showed up and Caruso/Howard were MIA. Getting Green to be more like that and getting Caruso/Howard to be less like that is something Vogel and the staff can work on over the next 3 months.

Our defense is legit and with it we can win a 7 game series against anyone IMHO. It's been there, with the exception of a few quarters here or there, for the entire year. We do need Kuz to grow a pair and show some of the "hold my beer" moments he had last year where he was scoring in bunches. I think transition is the key to getting him more easy opportunities. Rondo does better in broken courts as well. It would be good for the bench to go up tempo if possible and maybe we can put Davis and Bron on the bench from time to time.

We will see what happens in the buyout market or even if one develops. I don't think we need Iggy as much as we need a 2 guard who can score at will.

What lakers lack is size from bench bc we are too clogged at the 2 spot so vogel using too much of rondo is not of best interest to me especially if all he does is feed to AD or lebron and cause defense to suffer bc we all know he isnt the best of it. personally i prefer using cook more than rondo bc he isnt afraid to create for himself and is more of a reliable shooter even if he is slightly smaller than rondo. lakers get beat by size from bench since we got no backup 3 or 4 with kuz out at the moment we are frontcourt heavy. bradley and caruso is good defender but only at 1 and 2 and are nowhere strong enough to defend 3 and up which isnt their fault.
