Report: Lakers express interest in trading for D-Rose

He makes $7.3 mil.

Something like Cousins/Caruso for Rose works money wise. Not that I’d want Caruso to be traded, but he’s at least someone other teams might be interested in and his minutes would be eaten up by Rose anyway.

Pity we don't have any 2nd round picks to trade before 2023. However the team has badly missed Caruso on the defensive end whenever he's missed games so that isn't something I'd consider easily even if Rose fills a desperate need.

Kuz/Cook for Rose/Wood... Doesn't work exactly but I'm not sure if we can include the Cousins exception or not.. If not, then toss in THT.

Rose will be what we hoped Kuz had been, but losing Kuz leaves us thin at the 4... Which Wood takes care of. Adding Rose essentially means almost no time for Cook without injuries, so no real loss there.

Sure, agreed. Caruso, too.

Rondo, Cook, Daniels for D Rose.

Or Bradley straight up for Rose.

Cook doesn’t get any regular rotation minutes so Rose would push out Caruso most likely cause we’ve seen no reason to believe Vogel is going to limit Rondo minutes.

Caruso isn't exactly on the floor to play PG.

He's usually there to slow down a large guard plus provide a miniscule amount of ball handling.

Rose wouldn't take his PT, he would take Rondo's though. But you can't trade him for Rose.

My best offer would be Cook, THT and a SRP. But I'd want to see if we can land Collison first

Not sure there is any point in acquiring someone that can't play next to Lebron, unless you're only looking for someone to produce in the regular season. Rose needs the ball in his hands and minutes.

Yeah, thinking about lineups, if we got Rose, it almost makes adding another wing more necessary rather than less...

Or it makes it really important to keep Kuz.

Rose is 6'2"... If Green sits and we don't have Kuz, we end up with Rose/KCP and Rondo, Caruso or Daniels... (assuming Cook is gone) on the perimeter... Which isn't terrible, but it's kind of a bad mix of talent.
But if you we keep Kuz and can convince him it's super cool to just shoot 3s, and that it's rad that he only gets like 7 attempts a night, the mix is a lot better.

A guard tandem of Rose and Caruso for the second unit doesn't provide much floor spacing I'd say.

Also, the legend of Caruso is truly amazing. He's in there to guard large guards?! Did anyone watch the Houston game? Just about every top 10 guard has given him trouble on the perimeter. I like the guy and his story but he's not a defensive stopper and he struggles to do much of anything offensively. If we could get Rose for him and Cousins I'd do it and not look back.

That said.... why trade for Rose when Collison can be had without trading? Save the trade for that wing defender.

Maybe something like Kuzma, Caruso, Cook, THT, DMC and 2025 first round pick for Kennard, Rose and Morris? Lakers then utilize open roster spots to sign Collison and someone else.

Everyone conveniently forgets that they were a horrible fit together in CLE. Also, everyone conveniently forgets that Lebron is ball dominant. Rose will never get into any type of rhythm playing next to Lebron. He wont get the necessary touches if they share the court.

Fare well King Kuz. I'll always love you.

I like D-Rose and what a fairy tale ending for him to win a chip (hopefully-with us) but not sure if I'd be interested in trading Kuz or even Caruso I like em both.

D Rose playing Vogel’s defense?

I’m not sure we need more offense.

I’d rather get Collison and stay put. We’re starting to play as a team, finally. Adding Rose is not worth a breakup and re-adjustment period. Not defensively.

memes aside, Caruso + Rondo etc for Rose, i honestly don't want to give up Kuzma in this package (Kuzma should be used to get a player of a similarish age).

I wouldn't give up Kuz or Caruso for Rose... In other words i'd rather give up next to nothing for him. They can pick from a combination of Rondo, Cook and Daniels. I wouldn't even give them THT. I'd much rather wait to see if we can get Collison for nothing.

Great post.
Caruso is a not a natural PG, even ESPN pegged him as a SG. I like that you used the words "slow down" large guards bec he is also NOT a lock down defender. Yes, Westbrook torched him but WB does that to the majority of his usual defenders. Vogel uses him to rotate and bother shots from taller perimeter players like Ingels, a role that Bradley, Cook, Daniels can NOT do. He is an extra ball carrier (again not a role for KCP, Bradley, Daniels)but not a great facilitator.
btw, what is the freaking hold up on Collison? Does AD and/or Lebron hate him? Are they worried he's going to take mins away from their buddy Rondo? Is he out of shape?

The recent rumor is that Lakers can also ask for Morris to the deal to replace Kuzma but they also need to give up Avery Bradley and other fillers.
