Not a whole lot different than how they looked before the shutdown... A beat slower.

Waiters seems a mixed bag, but serviceable... Little surprised how passive Kuz is being in a game like this.

Dion Ws defensive speed seems slow. Obvious due to time off period. But i want to keep an eye on it to see if it persists or is a real thing.

Welcome to Waiters Island
The raw numbers don't tell the whole story. A 3-for-7 shooting night on 1-for-3 from behind the arc looks like par for the Dion Waiters course, but what matters is his impact on the team. There is no more consistently precarious point in games for the Lakers than the final few minutes of the first quarter. That is typically the stretch in which LeBron James goes to the bench and the Lakers cough up part of the lead their dominant starting lineup just built. The rotations weren't quite that clean on Thursday, but the results were encouraging. The Lakers ended the first quarter on a 15-3 run.

Waiters' ball-handling and shooting was a major driver of that run. All season long, the Lakers have been forced to lean on Rajon Rondo as their backup point guard due to the political minefield benching him would present. The results have been disastrous: the Lakers are 8.1 points per 100 possessions better without Rondo on the floor. If Waiters can match his ball-handling while providing superior shooting and a bulkier defender, the Lakers may be on the way to solving their bench offense problem.

That was awesome. Very much needed. I like what I saw from Waiters, AD, LeBron, Green. Even JR Smith's defense was really good. Kuz has to get back to getting the ball on the move, which is something Vogel needs to incorporate more.

Kuzma cannot iso at all. This guy I can predict everything he does when he gets the ball. Which is either pass back out, miss a defended layup, or attempt a three.

I think Kuz is just sort of letting the game come to him at this point... Which is fine with this team... Don't want him pushing it.
You want the validation of seeing him go off for 30 or something, just because there's still a certain emotional investment there, but what he did tonight was probably best for the team.
His iso's are still ugly... A little like watching a baby Giraffe's first steps, but other than that, he did fine.

That said, in this current role, he's only marginally more valuable than a JR Smith, which sucks. There has to be a way to get him some more usage without screwing up the rest of the team.
