Lakers Targets - Free Agent Class 2020

I'm just going mental here without the games, hence I decided to play GM. Not particularly loaded, but we can get what we need in this kind of a FA class. Here's a link to a list - https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/

I'd be looking to sign and trade Danny Green, Dwight(on an improved contract), McGee, Quinn Cook, Jared Dudley, Kostas & THT(much love and appreciation for their services) to get some much needed upgrades for this team in the delayed summer. I wish Kuz could get renewed to a 15-20 mil salary, and help us with a trade or two.

Resign AD, Boogie KCP & Markeiff, and ask him to call his brother to play for a fun & winning franchise for a change.

Ibaka - 10-15 mil. He's turned 31, for a chance to win again. Huge upgrade on Dwight & McGee on offense and defense
Galliari - 15-18 mil. Same story as Ibaka. Savvy playmaker who can legit shoot 3s
Fred VanVleet - 15-18 mil
Goran Dragic - 5-8 mil, if he gets released by the Heat from the team option

Vet minimums -
Tristan Thompson (Back up Center minutes behind AD & Ibaka)
Jeff Teague
Matthew Dellavadova
Marco Bellinelli
Kyle Korver(just to help Lebron shoot FTs)

Trades if Rockets get blown up (high probability I think) -
PJ Tucker
Eric Gordon

Kyle Lowry or CP3 would be the perfect fits for this team. I'd be amazed if OKC even attempt to buy out CP3, given where he's taken the team, playing the right way too. Just sad that he's gonna enter the HOF without a ring at the end of his career.

Not saying we get all of them, or that it's even possible, but Pelinka can start laying the groundwork, like he did when we were waiting for Kawhi's decision. And then it's hit or miss from there.

Lakers are just going to roll with another season of one year deals to everyone except AD.

LeBron might opt out the season after and Giannis is a free agent in 2021 as well. No way they lock themselves into anything until those dominoes fall.

Yup. I think Kuzma will be gone this offseason as well. They have to trade him now or they will lose him as a marketable asset.

Honestly there isn't anyone i'd really sign to a big multi year deal.

Maybe look at bringing in FVV and Andre Roberson or maybe a 1/2 year big money deal on Fournier. Dragic perhaps on a 1 year deal.

The only deals we should look for are those who are looking to ring chase and sign for 1 year.

I don't know our cap situation really, but I would add:

Jordan Clarkson
Davis Bertans

and Mike Conley (vet min deal??? after his record contract and poor play to take a chance on a contender)

as possible free agent targets (via offseason signings or sign-and-trade)

CP3 or Lowry would be great.

Bertans!

He’s worth it for the shot form alone. Lol. Purest shot in the NBA. Like someone here said, Pistol Pete like form. Off of LBJ and AD, he’ll shoot a very percentage for us.

Reggie jackson. There is a reason why we went after him during free agency and missed. He is available. Make a financial package stronger and well have our point.

LBJ is not going anywhere. He is going to retire a LAL. Maybe he will opt out but expect a new deal to be signed

Just because we look weak at the PG doesn't mean that a guy like CP3 or another ball dominant guard makes us better. Bron is and will be the primary initiator and tying up money on a CP3 or equal to be a floor spacer is not the brightest move IMHO. What we need is a deep enough bench to not have to have one of Davis and/or Bron on the court at all times. Right now we have Kuzma who is the only guys who can go get points in that group. We have a lot of guys who can fill gaps but we could use a Wing that can handle, initiate and finish at the rim for the bench group more than anything else.

After he got healthy this season Bradley has played great. I'd be for replacing Green in a heartbeat however.

If the Lakers can get CP3 for next season, I think they should absolutely jump on it (w/o giving up Lebron or AD of course). CP3 is not just a dribble, dribble, dribble-pass point guard like Rondo, he is an all-time elite offensive player and shooter. He's elite for spacing (can play w/ Lebron), as well as creating his own shot. He would be the perfect player to pair with AD when Lebron goes to the bench as well. I understand he is in his mid 30's, but he is still a top PG this season, and I suspect will have a couple more seasons of high-impact play (w/ load management). The sooner they can acquire him, the better of course. With that said, I doubt he would be traded here. IF anything, maybe he'll sign after his contract is up 3 seasons from now when he is more limited.

I agree that Bradley has been good, especially for his contract and Green has been underwhelming. I have a feeling though that Green will have a bigger impact in the playoffs; hopefully :D

CP3 isn't elite in anything anymore. I'm not sure he was at any point either. He's failed to "lead" anyone anywhere. It's always his teammates fault and never his. My personal opinion of him aside, he's not the guy for this team. At his age and fragility he's a real risk to Nash 2.0. We need bench depth not another has-been star who will take as much money as he can get.

Ball dominant guards are not what we need. We need a wing scorer off the bench and depth at PG.

Chris Paul is still a great shooter and shot creator/playmaker in my eyes. With that said, we can agree to disagree in regards to him. He would be a luxury imo but not a necessity.

Regardless, our team as it stands is still in a great position to make a long playoff run. I agree with you that added depth at PG would be great (as a rondo replacement). A legit 3 & D replacement for Green would be ideal as well for next season.

We agree there. For all of the angst in our team we were well on our way to the number one overall seed when it all stopped and we'd just beat The Clips and Bucks in a 3 day period. The biggest disappointment for me has been Green. Sure he's supposed to be a playoff guy but he just waltzes through a lot of games. For the 3rd highest paid guy on a team it can't be a guy like him.

I don't think it could ever backfire as quiet like that.
