WCSF: Lakers vs Rockets 4-1 Game 5 Lakers Win
I was thinking since we don't post much now a days we make one thread for each round and then update date and time as we go along.
Im willing to change, but if im not around mods can?
Anyways this should be an interesting game. Im going to say Lakers in 5 or 6.

We have to keep punishing them in the paint. That's the key to victory. If we get into a 3 point shooting match with them, we're not going to succeed.

This.
That’s the reality we live in. Three point shooting contest = Rockets win. Low post contest = Lakers win.
I want to see LBJ (and Kuzma and AD) posting up Harden as much as possible, every possession. And AD should be used to pull Adams out of the paint. And Caruso/Green/KCP must make Westbrook play defense.
Seriously limit turnovers to control the tempo.
If I were LeBron, I’d tell the team that Harden is mine on defense. If we don’t have to triple team the beard we win.

Don't go small. Force them to play Chandler or whoever they have at center. Dominate the paint and defend the 3pt line. Lakers in 6. And please, don't give up Game 1.

538 is really confident in the rockets according to their model. With that being said, Lakers in 6. James harden and Westbrook are mental midgets, I'm sorry.
I'm looking forward to kawhi vs lebron.

Lakers in 5 or 6. Nobody to match up with AD. Get through this round to get to the main event with the Clippers

Mike ‘Antoni (no d) eventually wears his welcome out all by himself wherever he goes. But yeah, let’s expedite his exit. I hope he retires after being swept by the Lakers.

Houston is a bit weird and unpredictable.
This will either be a sweep by LAL or a seven game series.

It all comes down to which AD we see. Do we see the AD from game 1 or the AD in games 2-5. If AD plays aggressively and not settle for outside shots, we should win in 5. We have a massive size advantage and we hope we use it.

Could be very unpredictable like others have said.
I don't think we should be shy to go small. I know our advantage is the paint, but we can maintain that advantage even with a small lineup while defensively matching up better. I'm simply saying I hope Vogel isn't stubborn about that. Make Tucker guard AD and get him in foul trouble. I honestly don't see how they can contain AD without picking up a lot of fouls. And please don't get me wrong, us possibly going small should not mean recklessly playing at their pace or getting in a shoot out. It's actually the opposite...it's too match up with them defensively in order to slow down pace, and to give AD more room to operate inside.

First retired”expert” stars like Barkley and Pierce predicting the Lakers will lose and now the nerds releasing their well researched data that the Rockets will prevail?
What’s next, ex coaches and analysts picking the Clips? Wait they already did that.

It’s extremely difficult to cover the 3pt line when you have 2 bigs esp with JMG and Dwight switching to smalls after a series of screens

Because of perimeter defense and foot speed/length at C, my starters:
GUARD 1: James
GUARD 2: Caruso
SF: Kuzma
PF: Davis
C: McGee
Message to LeBron: (edited)
On defense, pick up Harden like a man in the half court post, please. Like Kobe would. It’ll be good practice for Kawhi. Let Caruso pressure him high, run through screens.
On offense:
1) Halfcourt: Post up Harden every possession. Make him work for seven games, I mean four.
2) Fastbreak/semi-break: Attack the rim, don’t take any threes at all in this series.
3) Make your {ü@#!>? free throws.

Kobe wasn't picking up the best player consistently at 35. You keep applying 30yr old Kobe standards to 35 year old LeBron.
He'll have his stretches. Unlike Kobe, LeBron is the entire offense. Lakers have a negative netrating when he sits. So he'll need to pace
himself especially against a high pace team.
I think kuzma is going to pickup westbrook for to his length and improved defense might get tasked with trying to show harden downa play or two.
