3rd young star what position?

Post#1 » by SlimShady83 » Thu Oct 29, 2020 1:45 am

Just a quick thread, feel free to merg if needed

I'm curious to know when it comes to that "3rd young star" what position is most likely to be filled?

I want this young 3rd star to grow with AD and than when Bron retires we will need another 3rd star to go with AD/co

So I'm curious to know what position is most likely to be filled to go with AD?

I'd prefer a PG or SG if possible?

This...
I mean, let's be honest with ourselves... We're completely set up with the idea we might be able to land Giannis as a free Agent next summer.
The idea isn't to add a 3rd star, it's to add the next star after LeBron.
So I don't think we should expect any major moves this off season. I figure we'll just try to improve our role players.

Maybe we trade Kuzma for a player that fits better, or something like that, but I don't think 3rd star is the target this time around...

That is, unless something just falls in our laps, or Giannis signs a new contract with the Bucks, or something...

Difficult to get an established third star in free agency since Lebron and AD will make too much money to get that done and we dont have any high-end assets to use in a deal. They could be players in free agency in 2021, but as mentioned earlier it would require Lebron to take a paycut and it would require the Lakers to pass on long term signings this summer.

We could perhaps try to trade for someone who could develop into a star. Oladipo could be that guy and his price is low enough that it might actually be possible.

Otherwise it would be about signing players with star-upside.
Josh Jackson and Christian Wood come to mind.

If we trade for d rose....I'd hope that christian wood is in that deal ,as a sign and trade

Avery, mcgee, kuz for covington

After signing players with MLE (ibaka, danilo, or grant)....

Trade: Kcp, cook and #28 for drose and wood

D ROSE to me is the next star who i think fits with the lakers more than cp3. great rim runner and better shooter than before plus cheaper. what lakers need more is a shooter who get rid of danny with kuz + THT if have to but not caruso or kcp doubt piston would want kcp in a sign and trade anyways to be honest.

This year, no third star needed. Fill in with role players around what we have.

Long term, I think Pelinka would like to get Trey Young but that’s a few years out.

Yes but my point was someone to replace LeBron after he leaves to go along w ad would be optimal for a doncic type player. Giannis would be lost out there w ad. We need cerebral. Giannis types are all athletic no brains.

Discussion may be moot if LeBron can keep playing like a monster into his 40s however.

I think a versatile shooter/scorer on the wing.

Is there any chance to land Bradley Beal?

Unless Rich Paul/Lebron perform another Jedi Mind trick, it’s not going to be a superstar like Giannis or Doncic. I was thinking a star SG like CJ McCollum but he signed an extension so call me crazy because I’m thinking Paul George who has a player option next summer. Don’t get me wrong I hate this guy but having a FOCUSED/MOTIVATED 2 way player next to PEAK AD AND 37 Yr old Lebron is still very good IMO. He’s not alpha and just like misfits like Rondo Dwight last year, he’ll be a good addition with the RIGHT ENVIRONMENT.

You'd have to trade for him as I think he still on contract? could be wrong.

I'm looking for a PG/SG to go with AD :)

No it's not crazy I've done lot of brainstorming past few days and trust me PG has come across my mind a couple times. It is an enticing idea.

Simmons. He runs the offense like Rondo, but younger. And also has no shot like Rondo. But has Size. Plays D. Rebounds.

I thought about him because there's really not a ton of free agents who can help the Lakers the most for that '21 free agent class. I really think centers Drummond and PF's like Griffin would barely make an impact bec AD already addresses that need.
For me, it has to be either a PG or shooting guard or maybe a flexible SF and the Lakers can barely offer anybody via trade.
Guys like Beal, Simmons,CJ BEYOND '21 and may not necessarily be a superstar but a "major piece". But for guys who don't have time to google the free agent class, here it is.

It would be lol if pg 13 comes here humbled and accepts a mid level exeption after another debacle coming season for them.

Holy smokes. That’s a good fit, LAKESHOW.

That’s some imposing size. The three summits, lol.

Kostas. He’s flying under the radar. He’s gonna be a Giannis at the five. Beast. Long gravity defying strides like big bro. Seems to move very well, thinks the game well, engaged in defense, and he is soon built out enough to take some minutes at the five next year.

If he turns into the beast that it seems he’ll be, we might already have a third monster in the locker room.

Again, I think the best plan is to add three high basketball IQ role players around AD and LBJ who can defend and run the break and shoot threes well by committee.

No real need for a third star.

But Simmons, LBJ, AD is a contender even if Smush and Kwame were the other two...

Well, we have no offensive system. Meaning lebron is our system. And Rondo is our other system. And everyone camp in the corners. Theres a few guys who can run the offense like Rondo and Bron. Chris Paul is another. Simmons is another. Of course I don't think it's possible because the price is too high. But its a thread just throwin out names.
