I think really if there isn't a no-brainer trade out there, we should just run it back (make sure we retain kcp and rondo) bc
Kuzma 2021 >= kuzma 2020 due to the PO experience and stress and criticism he had to endure.
I also think green may have a better year this next season as well.
But we can't deny those two add lengthy defense to our schemes. We can't rid them for a buddyh or rose.
Agreed about Rose. Our goto Superpower was defense this year, and that move sacrifices a lot of it for not necessarily the best fit in terms of offense. Off ball elite scorers who can play off Rondo / Lebron or elite defenders who don't clog the paint would be the way to go.
I'm throwing them out there for FVV, Ibaka, Bertans, Galinari, Heild kinda players only. Also would like us to upgrade to Whiteside at Center. I find Dwight just so stupid.
Yes, Dwight is reckless at times. However, who else in the league could contain or even own Jokic and Embiidon nightly basis ? Without him, we may already be in trouble against Denver. He is probably the best you can get from your back up center who is a traditional 5 and super good in defense
If you are to look for upgrade. move McGee for another options. Cousins, TT, Ibaka or whiteside etc are all viable choices. Among them, Cousins is the one meeting our financial needs the best and having a skill set best complementing AD. The concern will be his condition and athleticism which shall be evaluated before signing him.
Oh, I'm counting on Boogie being back.. lol. Absolutely love the guy.
Ibaka would a huge step towards further cementing our odds to win next year, if we can resign KCP, Rondo and Bradley successfully without having to use the MLE. Stretch bigs like Boogie and Ibaka are gonna truly unlock our offense without the need to go small.
Ibaka is a monster on defense too, and is capable of having the occasional 25 pt night. Boogie is an elite rebounder with high IQ who can be an offense unto himself(Health willing of course).
Dwight can't own Jokic and Embiid. He has no offense except putbacks and lobs. On defense, he troubled Jokic in the bubble warm up game and Game 1 of WCF cos of the physicality. Jokic had his limitations figured after that and he was back to 13 minutes a night for the final 4 games. Qualitatively, Ibaka is a way better defensive and offensive upgrade - can play stretch big and PF with Boogie, if we wanna stay big in AD's bench minutes.
I'd be feeling quietly confident if we add Korver and Bellineli on minimums and Ibaka(MLE + McGee sign and trade in the region of 15-17 mil) this off season. Fine print - don't lose Green or any of our defensive core.
Bertans / Gallo would be an icing. The tradeoff for Green's defense is a bit of gamble I'll take for that game changing level of shooting which should be easy pickings for Rondo and Lebron.
