Re: Woj: Lakers trade McGee to Cleveland, sign Marc Gasol
I don't know about Jordan Bell and Alfonzo McKinnie.
But this is absolutely massive. Our 9 man rotation is completely insane, which will include a floor spacing big man next to AD.
KCP
Wes Matthews
LeBron
AD
Marc Gasol
Schroder
Harrell
Kuzma
Caruso
Completely insane. Huge props to Rob Pelinka.

I've never seen a championship team get dismantled and rebuilt like this before in one off-season. There's no way Magic pulls this off. Great job by Pelinka.

Another great move. But with McGee gone we need another big. I still feel DMC will comeback and I hope we also land Pau somehow.

Those two know what it is like to be on competitive teams and are cheaper than most end of the bench players they could give the minimum too so it is a cap win

Marc Gasol is a winning basketball player. Raptors had a 10.1 net rating when he was on the floor last year. Defense had a 98.9 rating when he was on the floor; 106.6 when he was off. Passing improves when he's on the floor. Assist rate is better; turnover rate drops.

If we get Boston in the finals for the battle of the 18th it shall be known as the Tacho Bell series, book it.

The other key piece of this is that the Lakers should now be able to re-sign Markieff Morris at a 20% raises on his minimum contract, as a non-Bird free agent. That would get them up to a salary of $2,797,912 to bring Morris back, and as with Gasol above they can offer him a second year with a player option as part of the deal.

So what's our depth chart?
LeBron | Schroder
Matthews | Caruso | THT
KCP |
AD | Kuzma
Gasol | Harrell
We also have the guys from Cleveland.
Up next: Kieff, Batum and Boogie?
That team is stacked!

Gasol was definitely the prize here but Alfonzo McKinnie was balling with the Dubs and Cavs. A perfect stop gap defender that can move without the ball. Also, Jordan Bell was projected to be a Draymond-lite PF that can play a small ball C. Unless they re-sign Markieff, the roster is still stacked.

I remember thinking Jordan Bell in his rookie year looked really good. I looked at his stats and he seems to have only shrunk since then. I wonder if Rob thinks he’s still an up and coming talent.

Didn't he get a big injury which basically halted his development?
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

That would be huge to get Markieff Morris back. He was a good replacement at center when Lakers went small ball.

I looked up Alfonzo McKinnie and he's a solid defender. If he can work on his 3 point corner shot, that would be the ideal role for him to stay in this league.

sounds like McKinnie specifically isn't someone we can just waive, so get used to him and whatever her brings, which I honestly have not researched

You remember him from when the warriors went to their finals the last year? He played as did Bell, Cook, Jerebko, and Looney with KD out and Iggy banged up. Defends, knows his role, and stays ready, a true spot player but not a rotation guy. You don’t have to teach him to be a professional though, Kerr them already did that
