WHOA- one of you called this in one of the threads and I did not believe it (or see the point).

But now that it's real,

The article says he hasn't played 5 on 5 since 2019 and he has had two foot surgeries since then, only way he is getting on the Lakers roster is for a 10 day so he can retire as a Laker.

I bet the Warriors are linked to him quickly.

He's done sadly and I rather keep the roster space opened for buy-out candidates during the season.

idk that he's washed IF he can stay as healthy as he is right now. BUT I still don't know with our hard cap and roster makeup where he can make the roster. (Marc, Keefe, Cacok, Dudley, Trez, Kostas).... not sure what Pincus says about money... would all the way rather have him than Cacok I suppose and i'm not sure who of the yougins can be a two way i guess there is Alfonso McKinnie too.

I'm all for it though with my heart.

How washed do you have to be to be unable to play 8 min off the bench as the 4th option at C?
I think he'll be back, and stick through the season, but mostly as a cheerleader... As long as you don't ask him to guard 4s, I think he'll be fine.

I think he’s done. I loved his time here and am looking forward to his Laker jersey retirement, but I just don’t see Pau contributing to this team in any way. He looked washed 2 years ago.

With load management at the beginning of the season, I could see the end of the bench getting some minutes. So I’d prefer to see someone like Dedmon as our 4th center, not Pau.

But if Laker management and medical staff do their due diligence and find Gasol fit enough to sign, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. As long as it’s a basketball decision, not sentiment.

Just grab him, let him be practice fodder/coach. He can't be as useless as dudley you know? Warm that sweet bench brother.

We have two cheerleaders already in dud and cook.

Championship experience is valuable. He will command respect too since he was the last guy to win a champ with Kobe.

I love the idea of Pau giving AD some pointers in the paint. Pau's footwork was beautiful back in the day.

Maybe help Trez too.

Yes. It’s worth a try. No rush until he’s on his way back from the dead.

Good points. He brings value besides playing time. Up earlier in the thread, someone said 8-minutes. Seems about right. I'm gonna be honest, and admit that it's been a few years since I Last saw him play. I'd like to think that he has a good head on his shoulders. So if he thinks he brings value, he must be able to do half the things he used to do. Otherwise, he'd skip all this BS. So with that in mind, I'm down to sign him to the deep bench.

I like Pau, but it's a no for me. You already have 2 players in Dudley and Cook who basically won't play. Lakers need another center, but someone younger and more athletic would fit their needs better at this point

Fairytale ending for sure, but it's a no from me unless there's another bubble situation and the Lakers get extra spots and cap space

Dudley's on-court contribution is overlooked. He's an excellent shooter, and a decent defender who's not afraid to get in his opponent's face, or under his skin. People are too quick to judge a book by its cover. Dudley still got some game left.

Agreed. Dudley gets in there and plays like a dawg and has high energy. Plus he provides a lot of high moral and leadership for the team.

I like Dudley too. He's fierce both as a player and as a cheerleader.
