How and when to rest Lebron?

Post#1 » by tamaraw08 » Sun Jan 10, 2021 3:59 pm

They won 70% of their games with their 36 yr old leader not resting any games, playing 328 hard fought minutes with 61 matches to go. The problem is the easy schedule is done and if they lose 2 games, they’ll be out of the top 8 teams. There are 6 other teams with just 1 more loss so far.
It’s not a question of if but when and how?
It doesn’t help that they don’t have a lot of good offensive sets, mostly relying in Lebron to initiate and go iso.
One option is if they play a bad team to play James 6 minutes in the first half and use him more in the 2nd half if needed. It’s time for Vogel to use the weapons that Rob has provided him. Dennis and Harrell can combine for 35 points, AD used to lead NO’s offense before.

I don't think we need to.

He's not playing crazy minutes. His work in-game is significantly less than last year, etc. Let's build up a cushion and then maybe sit him on a back-to-back against a crappy team.

He doesn't look gassed when he plays through the games. Frank gives him his scheduled naptimes in each game and he always seems to be a little animated during certain plays, so it tells me he's pretty in tune w how his conditioning is so far.

I'm sure Bron knows by now how he needs to take care of his aging cyborg body. We don't have to worry. No load management bs with this guy, he'll do whatever it takes to get the team in a good position during the RS and be ready to go full blast in the playoffs where it matters.

Leaders don't disappear every back-to-back or take regular days off while the rest of the team battles hard.

I hope you guys are right but I still remember Kobe trying to play and took a left handed FT when he separated his shoulder. Lebron tried to play every game around March before AD got here and he didn't feel right.
This is what happened late in the Bulls game last friday.
3:25 LeBron James lost ball turnover (Zach LaVine steals) 103 - 110

3:05 LeBron James misses 6-foot two point shot 105 - 110

2:08 Thaddeus Young defensive rebound 107 - 114 - Lebron was too far out to recover to contest shot.
1:58 Garrett Temple makes 25-foot three point jumper (Thaddeus Young assists) 110 - 114
1:42 LeBron James misses 27-foot three point jumper 110 - 114

1:21 LeBron James misses layup 112 - 114

46.5 LeBron James misses free throw 1 of 1 112 - 116

20.2 LeBron James misses 32-foot three point jumper 115 - 116

0.0 End of Game 115 - 117

Yes, he had to do extra work in lieu of AD's absence, Houston didn't show up last night, with numerous careless turnovers too.,

Maybe you should email Frank Vogel /Lakers coaching staff what your findings are above to help them out the conundrum of the Lebron James rest schedule.

It’s like 10 games into the season. Almost every team is a couple wins/losses away from a top or bottom of the conference.
I say take advantage of all of the turbulence of this awakened start to the season and get as many wins early as possible. A lot of teams are underachieving and overachieving given their rosters, while the Lakers are coasting as expected with less than maximal effort.

I totally agree ^ .. If you have the opportunity to win easy games now , do it. It'll pay you back later in the season. I bet that is some kind of proverb.

Lot of dum teams and media always bagging on those who win their easy gsmes early on ...and those fools scramble at end of season for playoff positioning and risking injury.
