However great and balanced this Lakers squad is, potentially matching up against a historically talented 3-headed monster like Brooklyn is a scary thought.
How confident are you that this Lakers squad tops the Nets in a 7 game series? Any particular additions that would make it more comfortable?

The Nets have no idea how to match up with us...

Who guards AD? If you say KD, then who guards LeBron?

We have the #1 rated defense in the league and we're running at 3/4 speed at best... While maintaining the #5 rated offense...
And the only reason we're that low is we've been turning over the ball like it's dodge-ball out there... When we get some more practice time and guys get used to each other, that's going to improve. I expect us to be no lower than #2 in Defense and no lower than #3 in offense heading into the playoffs.

Nets Defense is average at best, and they only have a spot on us in Offensive Rating.

Let the new car smell wear off the Nets before you worry about us not matching up with them...

I'm not sure kyrie will still be there still when it comes time however I do prefer him to remain there as this 3headed monster is more a monster with a third head getting in the way of another. So it won't be as efficient as them trading him for a few key pieces to round out there roster.

I would say either way, we still take them in 6 games.


Also coaching is a big component in playoff adjustments. We have a solid playoff coaching staff in Vogel and Co. They have Nash ( i like him but sorry he has no experience coaching) and we'll top dantoni if he decides to steer their ship during the finals.

It will come down to depth. Lakers have plenty of it, Nets have none.

AD is the problem for the Nets. Period.

Lakers won't be able to stop the Nets. No way. Sure AD will get his 30-40 but Durant equally will match that.

If nets end up getting another big to stop Lebrons rim attacks I think they are the favourites as it stands. LeBron and the role players just won't be able to outscore Harden and Kyrie. Lakers really need to load up on shooters so Nets can't just Stonewall Lebrons drives, Schroder and the likes of Caruso just won't get it done

No need for false confidence based off last year's results. Every playoff opponent last season were overmatched and we were also a better defensive team. This nets team is a different beast

But the Nets have perhaps 3 of the top 10 most talented scorers of all time, with a great distributor in Harden, who has so far shown the willingness to take a step back in scoring for the team's cause. KD, Harden & Harris aren't all NBA, but better than average defenders, who can more than hold their own.

They have 3 open roster spots and more money than the rest of the league to burn. The buy out market is going to be thier hunting ground. I'm most afraid of them getting their hands on someone like a Drummond in his last year with the Cavs. Dan Gilbert will do what he can to help them go against Lebron.

I'm waiting to see what they become, and meanwhile get as strong as possible ourselves.

To clarify, I said they were three of the most 'talented / skilled' scorers ever.

Mr. B Flat Major, IMO, is a priggish, delusional & disrespectful A-Hole I can't stand any more, but probably thee most talented dude to have ever held the ball. Is he an all time top scorer / player? Hell no!

KD & Harden are way more 'skilled' than your list, excluding maybe MJ/Kobe/Curry. Being taller, athletic and stronger are not skills, but they are huge advantages in this game, which is why Giannis still can't win.

I think you know I'm a Lebron fan. And you should easily be able to find my posts clowning all three of them on other threads because of how weak they are. I'm just calling a spade a spade as I see it. It need not be the case in everyone's eyes and that just fine.

Kareem was maybe the most skilled player ever at any size... Go back and watch him play... Wilt was amazingly skilled... Bird was a swiss army knife scorer... AI was more skilled than either KD or Harden...

You're just flat out, unequivocally wrong about that, which was basically the core point of your post... That the Nets were so good, the Lakers needed to make major changes to keep up with them...

That coupled with the Sashaturiaf posts just seem a little weird to me... What have the Nets done to justify all the fear? They're barely functional on a night in night out basis...

The Nets have become this weird entity that it seems like you can't say anything negative about... Like you're and idiot or clearly evil if you even question them.

So whatever... I still say if we execute, on both ends of the floor, and play to our potential, nobody in the league beats us. Right now, we aren't doing those things... But if we get the same level of play from the players we had last season, and peak performance (current level, not prime) from Marc, Schroder, and Trezz, we're a bigger problem for the Nets than they are for us.

I feel like all the "Lakers need to counter" talk... Or at least a lot of it, is a bit Trolly...

I'll say it again so you get it - I think they are 3 of the top 10 all time 'most talented' scorers of all time. Dunno how to do Caps, bold, colour on the phone app, or I would, so it stands out, but I hope you get the point.

Kareem & Bird have nothing on KD & Harden in terms of skill. They were way better all around players, leaders and just real men you could love and respect, unlike these dudes, but if you think either of them had an offensive arsenal even close to these three, then I don't know why I'm even typing anymore.

AI maybe better than both of them and I probably missed his name next to Mike, Kobe & Curry. That still doesn't make more than 4 guys ahead of them, ergo, making them top 7.

And the core of my point wasn't them being so gifted, cos everyone already know that part. The core was that they have 3 open roster spots and enough financial muscle to enable them to sign a great buyout candidate like Drummond which sorts out a massive chunk of their defensive problems.

This Lakers team is pretty f*cking solid, and I'll start worrying about the defensive issues after AD turns up to play for 5 straight games and Vogel gets that Caruso is the default #3 on this team and it isn't even close.

But to think they're invincible is fool's gold.
- Schroeder's just not fitting in.
- Kuz still thinks he can dribble and gets more minutes than at least 6 players who are better than him.
- There has been no effort made to properly integrate Trez' offense into the team. He and AD might easily be 2 of the top 5 roll men in the league, but we just wanna iso - post them up like it was the damn 90s.
