I really liked what we've gotten from Jones the last 2 games and what we got from McKinney last night... If they can keep it up, they bring some bounce and scoring ability off the bench.
I hope this team gets some practice time in going forward, because it shows on the court that these guys don't play together very often. Lots of miscommunication on both ends of the court.
But if you integrated them more, I think Jones and McKinney will be valuable going forward.

THT/McKinney/Mathews/Morris/Jones off the bench wouldn't suck...

jones needs a good long look with introspection because the Lakers have one of the best G-League organizations that has a good understanding of player development. There have been successes with some players such as Hassan Whiteside who was drafted in the second round. The same year year Demarcus Cousins was and do not forget Thomas Bryant Lakers second round draft pick. It took quite a long period of time. Therefore the Lakers could use some options.

Jones' contract ends today i believe.
I hope he is given another contract.

I know how it is to do contract work at a company, get rave reviews by the staff and dept manager i worked with, and then when contract ends, im just shown the door w a smile.

I mean, half his first contract was All Star Break, but of the few times we got to see him, he seemed like a nice addition for the money.

He's looked good but even if he made the team I don't see him getting regular playoff minutes which kind of makes it a waste.

I think Rob is just biding his time by putting a bandaid on a hole just long enough to see what is going to be available and attainable in the buyout market.

Jones has done a lot better than a lot of these post reflect. His biggest weakness is his aggressiveness towards rebounding the ball. He's too athletic to not be a good rebounder.

He's a weird combination of really bouncy athleticism, poor fundamentals, and maybe not the highest BBIQ... But the biggest knock I heard about him before we got him was his work ethic, and so far I don't see that particular issue... So it's all good.
He seems like a guy who never had a good coach or never listened to the one he had, but now he's got AD, LeBron, Dudley, along with Kidd, Phil Handy and Vogel... Hopefully he makes the most of it and learns how to play the right way.
I think facing AD in practice eventually would do wonders for him if he sticks that long.

10 days as opposed to a year or years of guaranteed money do that to you too.

He must stay . He’s been so good for us . Unless we get Drummond which we won’t I’d take him over gasol , whiteside right now. He’s blocking shots and rebounding and put up put backs well enough . That’s all we need

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly set to allow center Damian Jones to become a free agent.

According to Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers had the option of signing Jones for the remainder of the season after his second 10-day contract expired but decided not to because of the hard salary cap and roster limitations.

In eight games with the Lakers, including six starts, the 25-year-old Jones averaged 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 14 minutes per contest.

It's trade deadline week.

Worst case scenario we get Drummond/Cousins/Whiteside.
Best case scenario we get Turner via trade.

Either way, we'll have a new C by the end of the week.

it almost seems obvious that they have something better up their sleeve. If not, this is a horrible move.

The Lakers will wait to see if they can add anyone worthwhile who gets cut, on the outside chance no one joins the Lakers they’ll bring him back.
