I did not see a topic about it on the Lakers board, so I'm creating one here.

Read this today. Baylor revolutionized the game. He was the Kobe of his day. A wing that could do everything. He's often overlooked in the GOAT discussions as those tend to focus on the last 30 years or so but in that era he was about as unstoppable as Wilt.
The evolution of that position into what we saw with Magic, Jordan and Kobe started with Baylor, Robinson and Maravich.

I never saw him play... Hardly have seen any clips, but heard a lot about him... I have wondered from time to time where he should fall on the greatest Laker list... I mean dude dropped 61 on Bill Russell in the finals... That to me is more impressive by quite a bit than Kobe's 81... No 3s either...
In any case though, respect and RIP to one of our legends.

RIP, one of the statues outside Staples and we know the Lakers don't just retire numbers or build statues for nothing. The sad thing is the amount of crap he had to put up while running the Clippers under Sterling.

I would call him the prototype for Dr J. Then J was that for MJ. Then MJ for Kobe. Ioffer when it was up had tapes of him and a bunch of other classics in sports that used to be cheap and fun to watch. He was uniquely talented. Had perimeter skills like the guys I named by the motor of the Matrix.
I think his overall standing would be looked at so different had he been able to finish that last year. Them winning 33 after he retired and then a ring really hurt his historical rep. He’s kinda like the Karl Malone of SFs, the greatest of his position to have never won.
