Three year dear , he can opt out afther the second in order that THEn we have the bird rights and can actually pay him market value.

I don't think he's that good though. He's serviceable. Nothing more

if the lakers re-sign schroder, then the most we can offer him is 1 year taxpayer mid level exception (and a year later, 175% of that figure)
if the lakers don't re-sign schroder, then the extra space under the hard cap would probably allow the lakers to give the full non-taxpayer mid level exception (and a year later, 175% of that figure)
i'm willing to bet he's gone after grabbing his next big contract

I quote honestly don't know who else will offer him any more than the MLE. He has his strengths but in a fully healthy team, you don't want him to be a playmaker or defend in space, so the only translatable skill is rebounding.

One of the best rebounders in the game, someone is going to offer him around 20/year. Capela gets what, 18/year? Once Lebron gets back, and Drummond gets more easy looks and lobs, I think more people would be happy with him on this team.
If Schroder walks, and someone like KCP or Kuzma get moved, then they might be able to sign him. Otherwise no chance.

I think Drummond is going to be a monster when LeBron and AD come back. That alone will boost his value.

Not sure that if Shroder walks that it will affect our cap situation. We are still going to be over it.

I agree with this... Right now, he's essentially being asked to play the role he had in Cleveland, where he was underwhelming as a primary option.
Just like with Dwight, the more narrow of a role you ask him to fill, the better he's going to look.
And if he looks good in the post-season, regardless of how little he's being asked to do, he'll get paid.

Oh and Harrell can opt out too.
Say CP3 signs for vet minimum for one year and get Mclemore for cheap to replace KCP. If Harrell opts out and Kuzma gets moved....could sign Drummond then.

I really hope we focus on keeping Drummond more than keeping Schroder.

He signs a 1+1 for the tax mile of 6mil. Then he opts out the second year and you his early bird rights. You can then offer him the average league salary which is go be about like about at least 11mil as his starting point per year. It’s a similar situation to morris who we can offer at least 10mil a year to this summer

I expect his stats to significantly drop when Bron and AD get back. Not saying he won't have an impact, but a lot of casuals won't be happy with his production.

I think his efficiency will go way up, which is all that matters btw. He'll have so many open lobs from pick n rolls with Bron, tip-ins, just being wide open if they double AD in the post.. It's the one thing I'm eagerly looking forward to the day he signed with us. If they can unlock Drummond's efficiency and he locks in on defense this team can be special, like all-time special. Unfortunately, this will also mean his value will go way up and we won't be able to keep him.

Miami has Bam, Spurs have Poeltl. Dallas sure could be an option but they look for pick and pop bigs in Carlisle's system.

I thought bam played PF so that's my mistake. Has Poeltl really don't anything to secure his spot?

He’s been quite good this season, even so Drummond is not a Spurs style big, they like players who are low turnover risk. Will they take him for the MLE or $12M a season? Yes. Will they blow the doors with an offer? No. I reckon they’ll go after other free agents first or re-sign Derozan for a significant chunk of their cap space.

I hope Drummond stays so this is all music to my ears. I'd love to shore up the center position with a healthy 27yr old tank. if for no other reason it keeps AD at the 4 and he also fits our timeline. Honestly I can't wait to see what LeBron and AD can do with Drummond... Assuming Drummond truly wants to win and does what is asked of him.

Yeah. It’ll boost his value out of town.
