Lonzo Ball coming home
It’s a done deal. Baller brand wants to be in LA.
Restricted Free Agent.
Lonzo and LeBron have a lot of respect for each other.
Lonzo has worked very hard and at 6’6 is now a lethal 3pt and FT shooter, tenacious defender and facilitator. He’s way bigger than Schroder and can guard more people.
At age 23, he’s the perfect fit. Perfect fit IMO.

That would be dope. But, can we get Ball and still get a legit three-point shooter at the 2?

It would help if Harrel opted in.
1. Kuzma, KCP and #22 to Sacramento for Hield
2. Harrell, McKinnie, and 2027 1st to New Orleans for Ball

Not gonna work. Harrell is not opting in. Even if he is, him + McKinnie is way short of what Lonzo will ask and get as a FA so the salaries are not going to match.
Only possible way is with Kuzma/KCP + Gasol+McKinnie+ the #22 pick or swapping FA. THT or Schroder(if they agree to a contract with NO) for Lonzo(if he agrees to a contract with us).

Re: Lonzo Ball coming home
yeah would love him back... but done deal nah. We have some hurdles.
replace Dennis the anus with Lonzo (who plays actual defense and creates for others) and we are talking big upgrade.

He’d be a significant upgrade to Dennis, but there are big hurdles in trying to acquire him.

Re: Lonzo Ball coming home
Doubt it happens. Besides Kyle and the frp, the Lakers have nothing NO would want. I doubt Montrezl makes a decision before the draft. We will wait until the 31st to decide

Ask emplay... I think he'll say there are tremendous hurdles. Dennis wants an amount that NOLA doesn't want in return and they are looking to move a guard because they feel they don't need a guard.
f'it I'll ask him

Yeah, it doesn't make sense for them to get Schroder.
If they'd want to pay him, why not just pay that amount to Ball who is younger and better in every way?
It's either Kuzma + fillers + picks or THT sign and traded to the max(his max is around 15-17 per) + picks.

"They say" Lonzo wants out and that NO does not want to spend big money on him. Why? I dunno.

I wish we could get him, but with LeBron's albatross contract we are capped.

Re: Lonzo Ball coming home
I've exhausted all avenues..
The best way to acquire him is by trading KCP, Kuzma, and Gasol into cap space. Renouncing McKinnie. We would actually have cap space in that scenario and have $18-20M in cap space as well as the cap holds for Caruso and THT. We would then have a room exception to use on someone else.
So our roster would be AD, LeBron, Ball, Caruso, THT, Room exception ($5M) and veteran minimums. However, what if New Orleans just matches?
The other option is a sign-and-trade, which hard caps us at $143M. And you can try to do the math to figure out how to put a competent roster around him.. but good luck.

I think it would be possible to field a decent roster in your first scenario, but the obvious concern is if NO matches as you said.

Re: Lonzo Ball coming home
How does the hard-cap even work in regards to timing and signing players? Could we theoretically make all our signings and acquisitions before doing a SnT for Lonzo, which would then enforce the hardcap? I always imagined capspace being something that gets updated in real-time, but its sounding like there's a particular day in which everything is applied at the same time, and certain transactions have priority over others. Even then, are those operations performed concurrently or synchronously?

A team has to be under the tax apron at the time that it does a sign n trade and then remain so for the remainder of the season. In this way the timing of the sign n trade doesn’t really make a difference as it relates to when you do the sign n trade and how it hard caps you.

Still don’t understand why Lebron doesn't take a Tim Duncan type discount to give Pelinka more roster flexibility…is the trade off really not worth it?
