I don't mind this but as explained b4 ..

I see

C) Davis
PF) Bron
SF) Ariza?
SG) Ellington
PG) Westbrook

Will depend on match ups each game etc, but that will be main line up

Maybe THT at SG if he has a good shot this year??

I dont expect AD to play tons of minutes at the center position. We all know what will happen when bigs body him up every game.

I expect James to act more like a sharp 3 pt shooter when playing alongside WB. Marc will start alongside our big 3. And when WB rest, it will be DH's time to add strengh and interior defense with AD.

Closing line up will be very much like your predicted line up with Camelo replacing Ariza and ellington's place swapped to Nunn or Monk depending on their performance in that game.

Predicted Starting :
WB, Nunn, James, AD, Gasol

Others will substitute depending on match ups. Monk and Bazemore will be the primary substitute for the guard positions and Ariza being the primary Small Forward substitution. Melo will sub in for AD and Howard will rnter the game to maintain a certain level of interior defensive intensity. THT will fight for minutes and try to out perform Nunn/ Monk / Bazemore to grab their spots and minutes.

Howard, to me, is himself a defensive scheme and power.

Still this team is very versatile and lineup may change depending on match ups and their on court chemistry with multiple player being able to play more than 1 position

Now I just know you going to be one of the guys on here complaining about Defense when the season starts.

Or talking about how there is no floor spacing etc LOL

I can't wait for the season heck even pre- season will do for me :)

Ha! Lol. Not unless they lose games that way, I won’t, actually. I usually only try to complain (constructively) about stuff when we lose games because of that stuff. Usually when teams lose, it’s because of lacking defense.

But yes, I do get pissed when any star starts playing Prima Donna D, LeGroin included, lol.

One of Ellington or Monk is not going to be in the regular rotation, it just doesn't work if they're both in there. I think the starting lineup on Opening Night is Westbrook/Ellington/LBJ/AD/Gasol, but Monk replaces Ellington by the end of the season.

Maybe so. In either case it’s great with tough competition at each position. Practices will be competitive. This team will demolish other teams. Lots of garbage time; I’m thinking a 16mpg x 3 rotation isn’t out of question.

Interesting, so you think Baze and Ariza will be out of the regular rotation? Personally I think it will be Ellington out of the rotation by the end of the season and Ariza will get about half of those minutes you assigned to Melo. Who knows though, I wouldn't be shocked by anything on opening night.

My money is on Ariza and possibly Anthony being out of rotation. I also don't expect Gasol to be a part of the rotation. Vogel mentioned during Russ' press conference that he anticipate we'll be playing fast... this definitely works against Gasol.

This. In love it. Lock down the defense, go running the fast break.

I think Ellington and Ariza are at the bottom of the rotation, but honestly there’s more than enough minutes for all these guys to get decent run, assuming built in rest days. Also on that note, I’d love to see Lebron and Westbrook under 30 min/night, similar to the way Pop used Ginobli, Duncan, and Parker I’m the early 2010s. I thought the way Pop used those guys played a large role in extending their careers.

Don’t know if Lebron and Westbrook would be agreeable to that though.

I have a feeling Monk will start at some point in the season.

I predict Vogel will rely on Bazemore and Ariza so they can get their defense set and hopefully get stops and run to get transition baskets. Bazemore starts with the big 3 along with Gasol-who will be a token starter.
Frank will hold a mini tryout between Nunn, THT, Monk and Ellington during training camp. 2 will play while the other 2 be out of rotation as Vogel will tighten the rotation to 9-10 max.

I think we’re so deep that we can afford having a wide rotation. See my sig.

PF-James (32) Anthony (16)
SF-Ariza (24) THT (24)
C-Davis (32) Howard (16)
PG-Westbrook (32) Rondo (16)
SG-Nunn (32) Ellington (16)

Why Nunn at the 2?

1. Might be the best shooter on the team. He shot 49/93/38 last season.
2. He started his first two seasons in the NBA and he did very well, producing a consistent 15 ppg. He is an NBA starter. Why would he sit on the bench now?
3. He is 6-3 with a 6-7 wingspan, so he has sufficient length to defend most NBA shooting guards.
4. He is in a contract year and he got burned by Miami, so he is going to have chip on his shoulder this season.
5. Able to play off the ball at a high level. Shot 42% in catch and shoot situations and hit 44% of his wide-open threes.
6. Vogel may prefer Rondo at the back up point guard position, so there may not be room there. He likely competes with Ellington, Monk, etc. for starting two spot.

Why Ariza at the 3?

1. With likely a smallish starting shooting guard, such as Nunn (6-3), Ellington (6-4), Monk (6-3), Bazemore (6-4), or THT (6-4), Vogel may opt to go with the best size to match up with opposing small forwards. At 6-8, Ariza towers over the other wings.
2. Is the more established 3 and D player of all the wings.
3. He has still been logging major minutes, getting from the mid to high 20s, even at this stage in his career. Not bad for a role player. There is a reason for this. Small forwards with his size and skillset are actually pretty rare. Coaches value his defense, and Vogel obviously will. THT could eventually replace his as the starter, but Ariza will at least start the season as the starter.

I think James is a better SF defender than Ariza. Ariza has been almost exclusively guarding PFs for years.

I agree with Nunn and Rondo, but I think Ariza has a good chance to be out of the rotation. His shot hasn't been consistent for a while.

Bazemore, to me, is more likely to be the starter at SF.

I'll go out on a limb and say the Love buyout gets done before/early in the season starts and he signs with us:

Westbrook/Nunn/Rondo
Monk/THT/Ellington
James/Bazemore
Love/Melo/Ariza
Davis/Dwight/Jordan

I think this is where the rotation ends up, not necessarily where it starts on opening night. If Love isn't on the team I think Ariza probably starts at the 4 against the Warriors while Bazemore starts at the 2. But I'm really confident in Monk, I think he buys in on defense, becomes an average-ish defender and seizes that starting 2 spot by the end of the regular season.

It's possible that this is the rotation:

PG: Westbrook | Nunn | Rondo
SG: Ellington | Monk |
SF: THT | Bazemore |
PF: LeBron | Ariza | Melo
C: Davis | Howard | Jordan

Addition of Wes and Ennis for the final 2 spots could happen. Though I think Lakers are waiting for teams to cut down their rosters to the final 15. I think Lakers will look to pick up some of the discarded guys.

Vogel recently said that Rondo won't play as much. This leads me to believe that Nunn will get the backup up point guard minutes, with Rondo filling in as the starter when they are load managing Westbrook. I could also see THT getting minutes at back up point guard, with Nunn playing off the ball. Maybe something like this:

PF-James (32) Anthony (16)
SF-Ariza (24) THT (8) Bazemore (16)
C-Davis (32) Howard (16)
PG-Westbrook (32) THT (16)
SG-Ellington (24) Nunn (24)

Well look, Magic got criticized for bringing in Rondo. But Magic was right, we need another floor coordinator besides Lebron. Lebron was in the whole game, take him out, the offense looked like crap. But Rondo filled in adequately as an offensive initiator and organizer.
BUT NOW WITH WESTBROOK, Rondo services are needed in an advisory capacity. Westbrook can fill in the need, set the table, distribute, get his digit assists, and give Bron the breather

Is Rondo on board with primarily being an advisor? Unlike Dudley, I've yet to hear anyone say Rondo is a great locker room guy. Rondo is going on what, 15 years in the league? I think we're truly fooling ourselves.
