Lakers traded Gasol and a 2024 second round pick
For Wang Zelig I think his name is.

Never heard of him, who is he?

A Chinese center, who’ll never come over to the nba. This is purely a $10M saving budget move.

I was bitching all summer about how he won't stay and was returning to Spain to play with his brother.
Nobody believed me, most were still penciling him as a rotation player and even starter.

It's clear the route we're heading, which is Davis at C full time. Howard will see the 15 mins scraps(either as a starter- playing 1st and 3rd quarter stints or straight from the bench remains to be seen) when Davis is not on the court, Jordan is a DNP-CD unless something happens with Dwight(injury/ejection/foul trouble).

Deandre is going to be the starting center I bet. Better get used to the idea lol. Play the Javale role, starting center but limited minutes.

Maybe during the season, but I think the moves they made would indicate a focus on trying to get more scoring punch on the court.

You can't really run DAJ at starting 5 and also start Westbrook... Not only does DAJ take AD out of about half the plays they're on the court together for, it also only leaves room for one shooter.

If signing Westbrook didn't signal a full-commit to AD at the 5, then we had a really stupid off season.

Easy there captain martyr... Just because no one said anything, didn't mean we didn't agree with you, just that there really wasn't much to be said about it... :D Of course Gasol retiring in Spain was a logical possibility...
Personally, I had hoped he'd stay, but clearly there was some sort of disconnect between him, the coaching staff and maybe AD/LeBron...

I agree though, trading him has to be another sign we're going with AD at the 5...

Unless Westbrook becomes a 38% three point shooter, the Lakers need a center who can shoot to spell Davis.

Two years in a row the Lakers had the center they need on their roster and let them walk. Last year Howard, this year Gasol.

Not really, next to AD, just play Melo with Westbrook and get Melo to use that fat ass to set screen and pop.

Looked at some youtube highlights of Wang and he is pretty agile and athletic for his size. I just don't know if it will be the same in the NBA, but I certainly would like to give him a try considering he is younger than Dwight and DeAndre and his skillset is different from them. He is pretty good around the rim and has a good midrange / fade away shot too from what I saw.

I know but want to make it a bit of click bait, what I really wanted the tittle to be is: “Everybody have fun tonight, Everybody Wang Chung tonight”.
