Pre-Season Games

Post#1 » by TylersLakers » Wed Oct 6, 2021 10:29 pm

Lakers currently playing in Phoenix right now. NBA TV.

Has anyone noticed that AD seems to be moving gingerly? Is that just my mind playing tricks on me?

He looks okay to me. The Suns' top players are better than the Lakers' bench, though, even without Booker. They have ten more shots, and there is still 4:28 left in the half.

DeAndre looks washed, Monk looks like he'll be a good spark, Melo is effective on offense when he keeps it simple and doesn't try to do too much.

Yeah I'd cut Jordan after only 2 games lol. Monk looks solid. Ellington is struggling but I have faith he'll get much better looks if he has the opportunity to play with Bron and Russ. AD has to start knocking down his outside shots. Love THT's length on defense. Overall our team seems small.

Nunn is playing himself out of rotation at this point. Defensive liability and doing little to nothing on offense. There's just no way this guy is our back up PG.

Makes no sense to me that Russ and LeBron are resting. The big 3 currently has play no games together. That's just head scratching decision making to me.

AD's taking it easy... Just playing himself into shape.. That said, it's been a long time since he's looked really impressive... I'd sure like to see that soon, even if it was in a Pre Season game...
The way this team is built and with the leaders it has, this feels like a season you can skip until like February.

Did you see that son of a gun look down at his ankle briefly limping last night? In the 1st Qtr!?!? I almost lost it.

A really bad pre-season so far. We need to play Lebron and Russel. There's no point in resting them. Other teams are playing there starters too.

Nunn is holding the ball way too long.

I agree. I'd be playing them a little bit, even if it's just for a first half. Do they need to play in all 6 games? No, but nothing wrong with playing 4/6 with a game in the middle and last game before the season off. That's what Phil Jackson's teams did.

I watch these pre-season games and I watch for specific things. The biggest thing for me has been THT. We paid him $11M a season, which is $3-$4M more than what we could've paid Caruso. Caruso at this stage in his career and where THT is in his career fits way better around this core. I worry about us defensively on the wing, especially now that Ariza is out. All THT has to do is make good pass/shot decisions, play tough D, and play with energy. That doesn't describe THT's overall game and that's concerning. We're relying on him SO much this year.

When the regular season starts and AD/Russ/LeBron are playing 32+ minutes a game each, we'll win a lot of games. When one or two of those guys is taken out of the picture, it's going to get ugly. And something worries me about AD. He needs to be playing with Russ or LeBron. If we ever have LeBron and Russ sitting at the same time, I'm genuinely concerned as you can see by these pre-season games. I would love nothing more than to see him absolutely dominate one pre-season game here. And I wish it would've happened without Russ and LeBron on the court with him.

DJ couldnt get a reb or a point in the pressence of Ayton or McGee.

Our team is in overall undersized. Lost a few rebounds even boxed the opposing team out.

Defense definitely get worse quite a lot. Lots of wide open shots by Suns. Blowed by quite a few times by the opposing team. Even Mcgee blowed by DJ. Make me miss KCP and Caruso.

The offense is a mess. THT and Nunn ball hogged with poor decisions. Poor off ball movement.

I know the team is a brand new team and time is needed to gel. Players are out of rhythm. And its only preseason games. I am sure the will play much better as time goes by. But their performance is quite disappointing esp with the individual performance from THT, Nunn and DJ. I hope we find a line up with no major weakness for our opponents to target in the playoff.

I don't think they will rely on THT SO MUCH this YEAR, esp with Lebron and Russ + AD doing all the heavy lifting but I just hate the way he plays. He's not a good shooter, misses 72% of his catch and shoot situations esp on 3's, not a good defender and passer, yet, Doesn't move well without the ball, barely cuts. I mean, he's great dribbling to his right and attacking there, he soars and slam dunks. The highlight reel is etched in our minds, OMG, this 20 year old is specially gifted, we should keep him by all means and never mind we could have Lowry, we're going all in and if we lose Caruso who works great with Lebron, defends well and shoots 40% from 3, then so be it.

I'm impressed with Baze's activity on defense, especially fighting through/around screens.

Baze having a good game. I'm really not sure what the coaching staff sees in DJ honestly. I'm hoping we don't see him at all during the regular season, but that's probably wishful thinking.

THT inactive this game? Why does a 20 year old need rest 3 games into the preseason.
