Countdown to Shutdown

Following the NHL’s lead, the NBA, NFL, MLB will all soon need to take a break.

For those who have studied the effect of Omicron across the pond, you know what I mean.

I predict that Silver wants to push it until Christmas games are done, think he’ll shut it down after that.

Bubble #2, here we come.

Side note: Almost everyone in ICU due to Omicron variant is unvaccinated. If vaccinated, it’s extremely rare to get really sick from it if you’re otherwise healthy. Get vaccinated! Wear a mask and wash your hands often, it helps.

I say he delivers the message on the 26th. What’s your prediction?

January 3. I think a pause for four to six weeks is possible. The omicron variant spreads so quickly, we in the US will see a quick surge, which has already commenced, and a slightly slower fall in cases.

Overwhelming amount of responses ^ .

Thanks, Euphorbus. I still say Adam Silver pulls the plug as soon as the Xmas games are over. He knows each game is a super spreader. Hospitals soon overflowing again.

Bubble is a good solution.

This is slightly off topic, but the scenario I outlined (after reading multiple news sources) is coming to pass in the U.S.:

I think Adam Silver should reconsider the NBA policies in light of this clearer trajectory, and listen to voices like Nate McMillan.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves and let's also not get into the covid/health discussions here... RealGM has taken the stance that since these conversations rarely are productive and outside of the scope of basketball, we just don't get into it here...
