I’ve basically checked out as well. I saw they were playing well against Golden State so I watched the fourth quarter. I got the notifications about AD and watched the second half of the Jazz game.
This honestly gives me the confirmation I need to let go of all expectations for the rest of the season. If they win games? Great. If they lose games? Whatever, it’s what I expected.

Midfoot is a 6 week injury minimum. Likely 12 weeks for someone like AD.
Season over for him. Pelicans fans rejoice
Lakers just have to play for chemistry and reload in the offseason.

A team with LeBron and Westbrook should still be able to make the playoffs. When supporting cast includes Dwight and Carmelo, they definitely should.

And yet if you get him back in April and you have the Warriors or Jazz as an opponent oh well. It’s not even a sky falling moment here as he should come back before the play in and they match up well with those two teams, not Phoenix, but definitely those two. Russ can be what he’s always been right now which is the second best player on a team and roll. AD can get healthy, Bron can chase Kareem, Dwight can earn his minutes, and Melo can return. I thought he broke the damn thing the way it touched to be honest catching that stupid ass lob

I would argue this suits Russ best.
He’s been the #2 with KD, Paul George, Beal, and Harden. He gets to be the #2 with Bron for a month and not think about AD or what he should do, simply just go get it

Suns would likely keep the top spot while the Lakers would be hard pressed to get the 7th spot esp with their very tough schedule without AD. But my biggest concern is by April, the 37 year old Lebron would be so exhausted just to carry his team win enough games to stay 9th or 10th place.

Awesome we locked AD up until 2025 @ $40M/yr... I wouldn't want him to get his medical care anywhere else.

Did we play AD too much this time? Serious question… checked out a few weeks now. Unless a player has a degenerative issue, always thought the notion that we can preserve an injury prone player by load management to be silly. Given the amount games AD has missed these past two seasons he’s essentially load managed.

Playing Davis at C was a mistake. Needs to go back to PF.

He hasn't been the same since he was rushed back from the bubble for a new season. A more forward looking front office would have given both him and LeBron a couple of extra months off and lived with it. In hindsight, it gives some comfort in not trading the 2027 pick to go all in this season.

A 27 yr old superstar at his peak, just won a ring with an aging 36 yr old and he opted to sign the Max contract made me wonder why he signed a Max contract. The common logic was to sign a 1 Plus 1, let's see if my partner holds up and if this team gets better/ option(just like KD) but he didn't, go figure.

I just seems like he's got this little tears in his ligaments/tendons etc that those tears gets worse after he plays like 15-30 straight games. After 9-10 games he had 2 straight subpar performances vs Portland and GSW which me wonder... oh boy, is there something wrong with AD again? then boom.

Well hey, we are 2020 Champions! Many teams are defeating us. Many teams are walking over us. But only 1 team, have a Championship since then, the Bucks.
So i guess thats the satisfaction we gotta take. Cause this season is done.. Yipeee

Re: Nail In The Coffin: AD Out Minimum 4 Weeks

Starts season, gets hurt and misses a number of games, comes back and gains momentum, gets hurt again...rinse and repeat. Outside of the championship year I feel like this has been his norm. I hate to say this but Lakers need to see what kind of trade interest he garners, Lebron has maybe one year left of superhuman play we need to get him a sidekick that's reliable.

Yeah getting a championship is a big deal. With 30 teams in the league and 1 handed out a year, it should take 30 years on average to get one.

Re: Nail In The Coffin: AD Out Minimum 4 Weeks
It's kind of a weak era too, so it's not like we can just go out and find another 'big 2' who can run the tables on the league...
AD, even with all his injuries, is still one of the better pairings with LeBron out there...
I'd love to be able to get Embiid but that doesn't look possible... I'm kind of intrigued by Ayton... It seems like the Suns are not that interested in paying him what he's going to get on the market... Would they entertain an AD trade? Probably not... But I think that might be one of the better options... Maybe Utah if things don't go well this season...
Beyond that... I don't really know what we could do...

6-12 weeks, yes. Not 4.
Well, I think LeBron just got excited about playing. Nobody expects us to win. I like our chances for a second round exit, street clothes or not.
Rings since the 1976 merger LAL 11, CHI 6, BOS 6, SAS 5, GSW 4

- I'd try trade Davis for Brogdon and Turner.
- I'd then try trade Russ+Nunn+picks for Rozier+Hayward.
Rozier, Brogdon, Hayward, LeBron, Turner -- Monk, Reaves, THT, Johnson, Melo
It's effectively spacing galore and defense. That's as good of a LeBron team you could find. Team has 6 guys who could put up 20 points on any one night. Vogel gets the key pieces he needs also - POA defender, smart wing defenders and elite rim protector.
- Pacers do it since they need to move Brogdon so they can start Hali/Duarte and figure they may as well upgrade Turner in the process.
- Hornets do it for the expiring $53m contracts for cap space in 2023 offseason and the picks. LaMelo will be maxed in 2024 offseason so Hornets last run at FAs to pair with Lamelo and Bridges will happen in 2023 offseason.
