Would you consider Westbrook for John Wall – Help say No – POLL

Post#1 » by SlimShady83 » Fri Apr 8, 2022 6:15 am

I realize the season hasn’t quite finished, but it may as well have and I know this topic is going to come in the trade thread a fair bit, because there isn’t really much to be able to trade Westbrook Unless it’s Pacers/Knicks really do have interests OR Lakers include the 2027 pic.
Latest News Is Hornets I think it was might be interested?

JOHN WALL

I’m going by this website https://www.foxsports.com/nba/john-wall-player-injuries
Look at all the damn Injuries Wall has had just in 2021 alone holy crap!
10 Injuries In just 2021 alone – Let that sink in.
Might as well be another AD player…

Would you really want 2 AD’s on one team? I mean what IF Wall goes down, we all know AD will most likely go down as well, then you’re basically stuck yet again with Bron doing everything? He will then go down and others will come back and just rotate all over again.

Westbrook: Whether or not you love him OR hate him, at least Westbrook, pretty much plays every damn game and done much better in the 2nd half of the season - If there are no takers for Westbrook and Lakers have to keep him next season (I think they'll stretch him) but if they do they need to bring him off the bench.

So, unless Lakers can get John Wall without giving up their 2027 than It’s a hell no for getting John Wall for me – Lakers shouldn’t even be considering John Wall just because of his history with Injury’s – Would rather just ride it out with Westbrook than getting Wall.

Sure, Wall might be able to play maybe half a season and do well and give you points, but as mentioned above, what’s the point if he just going to get injured again – Risking one non injured player for an injured player just doesn’t make sense to me especially If they want the 2027 pic – Sure maybe If they can get Wall with out the 2027 I’d consider it, but even then, please no more injury prone players – AD is all Lakers need in regard to Injury players.

Can't remember exactly what the trade was, but I know they were wanting the 2027 pic included - really hope Lakers aren't stupid this time around and don't include the pic at least In this trade

Just my little rant about NOT GETTING John Wall.

Peace all.

DO NOT STRETCH WESTBROOK!!! For the love of God.

You blew it....just own it, and suffer through the next season. If we can get something for him, AWESOME. Otherwise, I'm perfectly fine trading him for Wall. The Laker need to get the guy out of the building. It's just toxic, and stinks of failure. And I will flip to the side that demands Jeanie sells the team, and Pelinka needs to be fired, if either of them are stupid enough to fall for the "well...his productions did start to go up there at the end" ruse.

Wall will be a better shooter. Prob nothing else. And he prob won't play much. Fine. Who cares. If he plays zero games, it will be better than having Westbrook here. And he comes off the books the following year as well....so there's no downside.

We will FINALLY get out from under Luol Deng's contract in a couple days. Can you believe we have still been suffering with that damn thing all this time?! DO NOT STRETCH ANYONE......Just deal with the bed you made for a season, and move on.

I only consider it if they are including Christian Wood but my priority would be Lillard if he's fully healed and healthy.
There are rumors Charlotte is interested and is willing to trade Rozier/fillers for Westbrook too.

For Charlotte it would probably have to be Rozier/Hayward for Russ, maybe we also send THT and they add another salary. I would take that trade.

The only way we get rid of him it to take back someone who's worse at this point. No one is going to give us value unless they get more from us. Everyone knows we will give more that we get to keep the team marketable.

1. Lillard has given his heart and soul to Portland ever since, so they might consider giving in to his request esp if the player's contract they'e getting back is expiring, since they are already in rebuild mode.
2. New York has been very frustrated with Randle and he's tied up for 5 years. He's not superstar but at least he doesn't miss games and they'll be happy to include shooter Fournier.. but then again they probably make this team a lot better.
3. Hornets are rumored to be interested but will Rozier really help this team?

Saw something previously somewhere, can't remember where either on here or Laker Nation and they said something that they might consider stretching him, If no other options - But let's hope they don't don't need to pay yet another player to sit down and not play.
Was I wrong about Westbrook, I still say no. Why Because If It weren't for Covid, the Injuries and the 1000 different lineups and the pathetic small ball crap, you can't expect one player OR even one team to gell with all the crap that went on. If none of the above happened, covid/injuries etc I'd still say Lakers would be a top 5 if not top 3 team - but as we all know crap happens - To make things work with Russ even as a third option, you need bigs - can't go small, you need defenders, Lakers have none Or at least lack of it and you need shooters and yet barely anyone really played consistent. But it is what it is - crap happens

Hornets is rumored to have interest in Russ, if they do a Rozier + Hayward for Russ trade, I don't see how we can get anything better than that. Rozier and Hayward aren't perfect but they would help this team by...not being Russ lol.

Straight up for Wall? Yes. Throwing in draft compensation? Hell no.

PS: the stretch idea isn’t the worst option for Westbrook. Just saying. By stretching him, you can sign a 10M per year player and a 5m per year player.

From what I've been seeing on youtube/Laker nation etc, If they end up stretching Westbrook they're looking to keep Monk? But anything can happen.

I'll have to dig back to what the actual trade was for Wall/Westbrook ... If think they wanted our 2027 pic to be included and I just hope Lakers don't do that - I'm not a fan of Wall just for the injury history alone - don't need NO more Injury prone retirement players on this team - going to be a fun off season :)

No thanks. I’d either keep him or do the Charlotte trade.

Plus they could possibly be flipped for more assets towards the end of their contracts.

If this is straight up I might say YES. Wall at least must have a better attitude than Russ. But if the Hornets is willing to trade Rozier / Hayward for Russ then clearly it is the better option.

This. Stretching Westbrook would be the equivalent of self-suicide or self-immolation. The only reason to do it would be to keep Lebron happy. This team needs to do what's best for itself... not what's best for Lebron... because these two things are not necessarily aligned in every instance. If what is best for the team is also what is best for Lebron, then great... but the GM + Coach need to determine that by themselves without being imposed to by Lebron.

About the only think Wall may be better at is defense. I'd rather pay Russ to stay home than to trade for Wall.

No chance Portland trades their franchise player for salary cap relief and fillers. At least 10 other teams would be able to outbid our putrid offer.
The Knicks would likely not entertain such an offer unless we add THT and draft picks. The Knicks have a team option for the 24-25 season on Fournier's contract... this is essentially one more year than Russ'. Also don't think they're that desperate to get rid of Randle.
The 2023 FA class is also likely to be crap after everyone re-up or extend. Doubt many teams will be eager to preserve cap space for that offseason.

Here are some of the top players from that FA class:
Lebron -
James Harden - highly probable to re-sign
John Wall
Russell Westbrook
Khris Middleton - highly probable to re-sign
Bradley Beal
Kyrie Irving - if KD wants him back he'll be re-signed
Kristaps Porzingis
Kevin Love
Andrew Wiggins
Nikola Jokic - highly probable to re-sign
Nikola Vucevic
Draymond Green - highly probable to re-sign
