Lakers recent rumors all point to Kyrie
Lakers have recently been linked in reports to J-Rich, Pat Bev, Randle, Hield in trades for Westbrook.
I think these trades all are based on Kyrie coming to the Lakers and what other player the Lakers would get in return when moving out Westbrook.
Examples:
Lakers get Hield, Kyrie
Nets get $37m TPE, LAL pick compensation
Pacers get Westbrook, Nunn, LAL pick compensation
Lakers get J-Rich, Kyrie
Nets get $37m TPE, LAL pick compensation
Spurs get Westbrook, LAL pick compensation
Lakers get Randle, Kyrie
Knicks get Mitchell
Nets get Bojan or Conley, $15m TPE, LAL pick compensation
Jazz get Westbrook, THT, NYK and LAL pick compensation
Lakers get Bev, Kyrie
Knicks get Mitchell
Nets get Bojan or Conley, $15m TPE, LAL pick compensation
Jazz get Westbrook, Fournier, Reddish, NYK and LAL pick compensation
If you had a choice, which one would you go for?

I’d go in order of:

3 is an absolute no go because I don’t want anything to do with Randle’s contract.

I think the order of pick compensation Lakers owe from most to least is:
Kyrie+Bev and Kyrie+JRich
Kyrie+Hield

Kyrie+Randle
I think Randle would be the cheapest acquisition.

I wish we get a dollar for compensation every time we read posts like this from any media because we get really frustrated everyday it doesn’t happen.

Re: Lakers recent rumors all point to Kyrie
I agree that we're probably looking at these players (except Randle) both in conjunction with a Kyrie trade and as alternatives to a Kyrie trade. At this point, we're basically at the mercy of KD; our getting a deal done for Kyrie is almost entirely dependent on how far KD is willing to go to get traded.

I really doubt that KD trade will ever happen. Very few teams can realistically make a fair offer and even if they can, they’re not sure giving up actual assets for an aging superstar is worth it.
Expect The Nets would be more motivated to trade Kyrie by start of training camp IF Irving wreak havoc in their facility. Doing crazy stuff like taking a dump in Sean Mark’s’ toilet and not flushing it, writing on walls like “TRADE ME NOW A Holes” or something, snoring during film sessions, questioning and laughing at Nash’s strategies etc

Re: Lakers recent rumors all point to Kyrie
There's certainly a lot of signs that point towards a trade for Kyrie and Joe Harris. The roster (and our free agent signings) would just make much more sense that way.
PG: Irving/Nunn/
SG: Harris/Walker/Reaves/Christie
SF: LeBron/Brown Jr/Stanley
PF: Davis/JTA/Gabriel
C: Bryant/Jones/
1) Last year when we had 2 open roster spots and we ended up signing Rondo and DJ and even before that - Rob largely said the bulk of the roster was finished and they'd always be looking to add as situations come up. Far different terminology than he's used this time around.
2) Rob and Jeanie Buss have both said on separate occasions (Rob: Summer League, Jeanie: interview with Mark Medina) that the roster isn't done.
3) We have a surplus of guards - here's our current depth chart.
PG: Westbrook/Nunn/
SG: Brown Jr/Reaves/Walker/THT/Christie
SF: LeBron/Stanley/
PF: Davis/JTA/Gabriel/
C: Bryant/Jones/
2 way contracts: Pippen Jr, Swider
4) The logical trade to make is dishing out some sort of combination of the following Westbrook/Nunn/THT/Reaves for Harris, Kyrie.
5) There's no current free agents that could use up San Antonio or Indiana's cap space. There's been a lot of Hield/Turner buzz. A lot of Spurs buzz that they're going to be involved as a 3rd team.
6) If the Nets get clarification that KD is indeed wanting to be gone and/or want to stay but wants Kyrie gone, a deal will happen.
7) Most Importantly: There's no other market outside of the Lakers for Kyrie. None. There's no hurry for a deal to be made right now.
-------------------------
My assumption is Rob feels like he has this deal in the bag and if for some reason the Kyrie deal doesn't happen, he's got fall back deals in place. Rob has always talked about having a "Plan A/B/C/D" - He had a Plan B when Kawhi said no and we had KCP, McGee, Danny Green on our roster within 20 minutes.
If KD comes to Brooklyn and says "I want to stay for now and I want Kyrie to stay. Let's run it back." I'm sure Marks will communicate that with Pelinka, and the Lakers will make other deals. Other deals I could see happening:
1) Pacers Deal:
Lakers trade: Westbrook, THT, Reaves, 1st round pick, 2nd round pick
Pacers trade: Turner, Hield, McConnell
PG: Nunn/McConnell/
SG: Hield/Walker/Christie
SF: LeBron/Brown Jr/Stanley
PF: Davis/JTA/Gabriel
C: Turner/Bryant/Jones/
2) Spurs Deal:
Lakers trade: Westbrook, 1st round pick
Spurs trade: Josh Richardson, Doug McDermott
PG: Nunn/Walker/THT
SG: Richardson/Reaves/Brown Jr/Christie
SF: LeBron/McDermott/Stanley
PF: Davis/JTA/Gabriel
C: Bryant/Jones
With that deal, you could still trade Nunn/THT/Gabriel for Hield. Or involve Houston and get Eric Gordon. Or even Utah and get Clarkson or Pat Beverley.
The Lakers aren't done - that I'm pretty confident in.
Josh Richardson, McDermott, Eric Gordon, Patrick Beverley, Jordan Clarkson, Buddy Hield, Myles Turner, Kyrie Irving, Joe Harris, Seth Curry - a handful of these guys will be Lakers.
THT, Nunn, Reaves, Westbrook - Some of these guys will be gone. THT most likely, Austin Reaves less likely.
PG: Irving/Nunn/
SG: Harris/Walker/Reaves/Christie
SF: LeBron/Brown Jr/Stanley
PF: Davis/JTA/Gabriel
C: Bryant/Jones/

Re: Lakers recent rumors all point to Kyrie
I get that the Lakers prefer the stars (Kyrie) over the role players (Buddy and Myles) and typically that is the correct approach.
But you have to be pretty sure you are getting the right guy in these deals and the last time they went after a star, they gave up Kuz, KCP, Montrezl and a first (as well as letting Caruso walk) for Russell Westbrook. Everyone expected this to go down in flames based on fit, lack of depth and Russ' recent horrible play. Except for Jeanie, of course.
I think Kyrie is way the hell better than Westbrook and i think a deal based on him and Harris would truly round out the backcourt of this current Lakers team. I do like the Buddy and Turner deal as well.
The Lakers being reluctant to take on long term money and include future picks does make some sense too, but unless they know for sure that Lebron is leaving in 2023 i dont think this is the time to be cheap.

This would be pretty awesome. Would give up 3s but spacing and interior defense in the closing lineup would be amazing.

Jeannie would rather fire Pelinka if Rob insist of trading for Randle. That’s how much she hates absorbing huge contracts beyond this season

Stars over role players is fine, when those stars aren’t injury prone headcases. Virtually no other team in the NBA is willing to give the Nets substantial assets for Kyrie, and the Nets themselves refuse to max him, even though that would have been the easiest way for them to avoid this drama. Now why is that?
I’m not saying the Hield/Turner deal is definitely better, but man, Kyrie makes me nervous.

WB is nowhere near as negative an asset as Randle, contrary to some Knicks fans trying to argue otherwise.

Most fans like me are also very nervous about Kyrie but having him for a 1 year rental is making it a little easier esp if they can include Seth Curry. Most players would remarkably be on their best behavior on the last year of their contract. Btw I’ll include picks if this true

If you could get Seth in there that would definitely make a Kyrie trade much easier for me to swallow. Agreed there.
