Unless Russ is gone or sent home - this makes no sense.
Marc Stein just had a tweet where he said the Lakers view Russ and Schroder as PG's, Walker and Beverley as SG's and Reaves as a SF. And that.. is hilarious.

Actually I like seeing him back. Other than the contract negotiations bad vibes, he ain't done nothing wrong that year. Yeah he made a lot of mistakes but you all cherry pickin the whole team did. Playoffs he faltered a bit but that's such a small sample size. I was a bit saddened to see him go.
I'm all for him back.

This sickens me ... I'd rather someone from the G-league team to give them a chance than to have this clown on the team again.
I'm not watching games unless Laker Nation broadcast them for free on youtube again this year
I'm only going to watch highlights and keep up to date with Pat Bev, Reaves and Westbrook If still on the team - no one else really excites me to be honest

This front office is one of the most incompetent I’ve ever seen. Rob is an idiot! At the time of the THT trade I asked why didn’t we sign Schröder for free instead to trading THT for a mediocre player like Beverly. You literally gave away a prospect for a player that’s inferior to a player you can get for nothing. This is elementary stuff. Schröder is better at just about everything, including defense.

And once again another season in which roster construction makes absolutely no sense.

Agree with this. He might’ve been our best defensive player that year. At the time I thought, I had no idea this guy’s defense was this good. Vogel said something similar. He was a big part of our outstanding defense that year.

I think Dennis is the back up plan in case Russ don’t play defense. I don’t think Bev can play more than 24 minutes per game at a high level.

We all know the reason why Rob Pelinka has a job at this point. It doesn't need to be said.

If this is the roster, I give Russell Westbrook 10 games. 5 games as as starter. If that doesn't go well, he gets 5 coming off the bench. If he still can't fit in, play D and shoot the ball at a decent enough clip, I would send him home and my rotation would be as follows:
PG: Pat Bev [16]/ Schroder [20]/ Nunn [12]
SG: Reaves [24]/ Walker [18]/ Pat Bev [6]/
SF: LeBron [16]/ Troy Brown [22]/ JTA [10]/
PF: AD [22]/ LeBron [14]/ JTA [12]
C: Bryant [22]/ Jones [14]/ AD [12]/
AD: 34 MPG
LeBron: 30 MPG
Reaves: 24 MPG
JTA: 24 MPG
Bryant: 22 MPG
Beverley: 22 MPG
Troy Brown: 22 MPG
Jones: 14 MPG
---------------
Schroder: 20 MPG
Walker: 18 MPG
Nunn: 12 MPG
Swider?
That second group to me is a question mark and totally up to camp battles and who's playing best on a given night. We're probably not playing 11 guys.
If Nunn is healthy and playing well, he probably gets the majority of the minutes between him and Schroder. If Walker is meh (which he's largely been the majority of his career), I'd cut him out of the rotation and play more Nunn or Schroder and add minutes to Reaves and/or Brown. Also - can Cole Swider be anything? I might throw him out there for the odd stint if I'm not getting much out of Brown, Nunn, Walker.
All of that is without Russell Westbrook. So if he's on the team - he better be playing well and be at least better than Schroder or Nunn. And at this point in his career with the attitude he has, I don't think he is.

I see how you’re trying to see this positively and work with it but I personally can’t and won’t watch 20 mpg of Schroeder’s bouncy-ball dribbling. First round exit. He’s weak sauce.
We need another solution.
Trade Westbrook to Utah now, so that we can bury Schroeder behind Conley, Beverly and Nunn on the very deep pine.
PG: Conley, Beverly, Nunn, Schroeder
SG: Reaves, Gay, Brown, Christie
SF: AD (playmaker), Bog, JTA, Walker
PF: LBJ, Swider, Bog, Gabriel
C: Jones, Huff, Bryant

Great, another undersized guard who can't shoot. How many guards do we need?

Does anyone think Russ will play defense? Russ is one of the most stubborn players the league has ever seen. Russ will never change!

If Utah is willing to do Conley, Bogdanovic, and Beasley for Westbrook, Gabriel, 2027 1st - with only 1 pick included and we
HAVEN'T accepted the deal just because Conley has an extra year of "salary" I'll be even more amazed at the lack of IQ this front office has. I have no idea why this "cap space" plan is a thing. They don't even have close to a max slot.
