Pelinka Extension

Pelinka just got extended through the 2025-26 season. I was curious how much power he was conveying with the Buss brothers getting a seat at the table to have a vote on if Turner/Hield deal was the correct move to make. Holding out hope that the asking price will drop or a better fish will become available is a dangerous play for LAL but it’s the only bullet in the chamber so ya better make the right shot. I would think you’d wanna get the roster as much time together as possible. Not sure waiting till the deadline would be the best way to help the team grow/build especially can’t risk not starting out with a solid record and have to play catch-up in the Western Conference.

The extension keeps with all of the latest spending moves by FO. I'm not seeing any of the ownership/FO bringing us another winner anytime soon.

I question the timing, we have NOT seen enough to gauge the players he recently signed yet whether they are great signings or not. Last season he acquired players like Bazemore, Ellington, Ariza etc, all huge failures. What if Troy Brown, JTA and esp Lonnie Walker fails big time to step up? Now what? Another oopsie like last year? Unless of course he blamed Vogel for convincing him to sign those useless players.

If anything the extension should’ve come sooner. Executives should never be put in a position to make decisions for the short term and long term health of the team when they themselves have an unsure future.

There is literally zero downside to extending Rob other than it’ll cost the team more to fire him and I can’t think of a single reason why any fans would prioritize owner profits over putting their execs in a position to make the best bball decisions.

I agree with Dock.
This is a good move and gives Pelinka the added security he needs to do his job. They can still fire him at anytime if the team performs poorly .
This also looks good to future FAs , specially those who have worked with Pelinka when he was an agent.
There is no downside to extending him and in case he gets fired, they’ll eat the rest of what’s owed to him without concerns .

You have got to be f***ing kidding me.

Nepotism and being tied to Kobe Bryant will get you a long way with this team.

I have a feeling he's a bridge to whenever they feel Jesse Buss is ready to take over GM duties. I wouldn't even be surprised if Pelinka gets promoted to President of basketball ops with Jesse taking over as full time GM within the next year or so.

I'm sorry but why should they be not be judge about the short and long term health of the team, why not? What about what happened to them last 2 seasons? The players he signed that turned out to be huge failures? Bazemore, Ellington, Ariza and even Rondo whom he let walk for nothing. How much was he against trading for Westbrook, was he in full agreement in making that trade?
Even the assistant coaches he signed, were they impactful or failures too?
Another question is would Jeanie agree to this extension if Lebron signed off to it? Why would James approve this? Why, because Rob has simply turned into a rubber stamp/Puppet, signing almost every Klutch client available in the summer instead of finding the best free agents possible to help this team succeed. I hope and pray that I'm wrong about Troy Brown Jr, Lonnie and JTA.
