Is it time to trade AD?

Post#1 » by loveshaq786 » Mon Nov 28, 2022 9:47 pm

Before we set our hopes to high yet again, only to be disappointed with another injury...

I also think the time to trade AD is NOWWW...

Option 1: AD, jones, and juan... for turner, TJ, duarte, Benedict. Indiana get a superstar next to his home city to pair with Haliburton. If they dont want to include Benedict or Duarte, I would demand one with an extra pick or 2

Option 2: AD, beverly, juan, jones, nunn for Derozan, Vucevic, caruso, Ayo, and Dragic

Option 3: AD, Beverly, and nunn for KD and seth

Option 4: AD, juan and jones for BAM, max, Caleb

If Bulls willing to give us Caruso back, I'd do it :) ... I'd just love to see him and Reaves In the backcourt ? :)

I don't think Lakers will trade AD this season, maybe in the off season and depends where and what Bron decided to do - I'm still calling that AD will soon go go down, I'm not wishing on it, but it's a known fact he not going to last the season and b4 trade deadline I just have a that funny feeling.

They can't trade Bron until the summer and I doubt they'll do that any way, but Bron might want to leave OR he could stay, IF he stays I don't think Lakers will trade AD because that will make Bron mad and probably leave and If that happens more then likely they'll want to get Irving in the FA next year and team them up with Bron/AD for there Trio as we all know Lakers are looking for a 3rd star

I don't like to refer to the famous "Stay" billboards back in the day but I think it is still early. Yes, he is not dependable but still it is not easy to find a talent like him.
We are stuck with LeBron this year so hurry up, just make the trade before Pacers' plane take off and get ready for a play in race.

They should trade LeBron... But if they're not going to do that, then, Yes... Trade AD...

However, trading AD for established talent is silly... If you trade AD, do it of assets and picks... Not with the dream that you'll somehow get better after the trade...

I’d probably rather trade LeBron for a star center and build around a twin towers with AD as half of it. That is taking into account street clothes and all, yes.

We get Turner In FA next year If Lakers don't trade for him via Pacers deal, so I think they'll be fine with Twin Towers there :) I like your thinking - does Turner count as Twin tower ? :)

Edit: B4 you say why Lakers should get him in FA, because for the center position there isn't that much there next year - and most are injury prone as well and I think Lakers will be getting Irving in FA and most of their money will be going to him IMO

So next year Lakers will get Irving and Turner In FA - that's If they don't trade for Turner b4 hand of course

Lakers won't trade Lebron btw unless he asks for it

does Detroit have enough cap space to absorb AD, Nunn, Juan. and jones.... and us only take back stewart, duren, and bey?

we have a hugeeee trade player exception. can possibly absorb Kyrie or Turner... or some team who can shed salary or even players like Seth, patty mills, TJ :)

Twin tower thing doesn't really work. Especially with our type of offense. Recall Andre Drummond/ AD and shaq/elden ..these guys can't really be on the floor simultaneously.

The iron is hot......make a deal now, or forever hold your peace.

Doubt it will happen. It would totally piss off Lebron. Both he and Westbrick would mope and whine for the rest of the season. Prob result in Lebron demanding a trade (great) and talking bitter trash the rest of his life.

And again.....let's say you got 3 first rounders. So now what? When have the Lakers ever done great with that (Let's not go back to the stone age please)? I think the Lakers lack the patience, and the spine to trade AD (and subsequently Lebron) and go full rebuild.

It would be great.....and this is the time where "AD is back!" Another injury, and you can kiss that all goodbye for good. But it won't happen. The Lakers want Lebron to pass Cap as a Laker. And tbh....I'll be glad if it works out that way too. He's been here 5-6 years now, at this point. So it's "another great Laker moment". Jeanie won't let this slip away.

This is hard for me to do as a Laker fan, but I guess I hope that AD plays well, and stays injury free....yet we miss the playoffs somehow. All this while Lebron plays well enough to pass Cap. A noble effort by the two of them....still resulting in an early offseason might give Jeanie the "hit across the head with a board" she needs to go in different direction.

It will be silly to trade AD now. He is playing great. I'd rather hope he stays healthy than trade him because I doubt if we can find another big who is better than him. I'd rather trade one of the guards (Westbrook, Dennis, Nunn or Pat Bev) for a wing or a big.

You don't make any sense. Right now with AD playing this way with westbrick and lebron alternating funneling pick-and-roll for him, we are 1 step away from 2023 championship.

Yes. AD and Turner or AD and Vucevic or any other quality C would be a good twin towers. AD’s insane versatility makes it so. Like Duncan and Robinson worked, so would any quality C next to AD.

Offensively, I like the idea of using AD as a 6’11” wing, LBJ as a PF. Add a C. Defensively, having AD in the PF role (having a good C like Turner would afford us that) makes him a nightmare defender at the four for all opponents.

I think the twin tower thing would work with AD because of his exceptional versatility on both ends. It’s hard to generalize him given his range of abilities. Skill wise, I’d argue he can play 1-5. For real.

You don't trade a legit MVP candidate. AD is putting up insane numbers in the last 10 games and right now he is a legit MVP and DPOY candidate. He carries the load offensively and on defense he could clear the boards and protect the rim. You only trade him for a player with the same caliber.

Right now, I think based on our needs (bigs) the only worthy player to trade AD with is Jokic or maybe Giannis.

KD, patty, Seth, TJ package..... AD, Beverly, Nunn, jones,juan....

that's the problem... too much weight on one player.

the trade I mentioned with Brooklyn is the plug for us. we get an effect scorer and better role players to carry the weight that shoot!

But that's always been the reality for this team though... We always need AD in top form and 100% engaged to do anything significant...

The problem is most of the time LeBron thinks he needs to eat first and AD compliment him... He woke up recently it seems... But betting he'll continue to feed AD seems overly-optimistic.

If AD stays healthy and the team continues to focus on getting him the ball in attack positions, we can win the West this season. But I doubt that happens.

AD hasn't looked this engaged in 2.5 seasons... So what do we do with that? Accept it and blindly cheer him on for as long as this run lasts, or be realistic about the situation this team is in...

The reality is we're never going to trade LeBron, which should have been the first option when things started to unravel last season... And in all likelihood, AD's played him off the table too...

All we can do at this point is try to adjust around them and hope they keep this rolling.
