The Lakers Should be 4 Seed Instead of 13

If it wasn't for multiple blown games and missed calls from the refs late in the game, the Lakers would be at around 28 wins right now instead of 23. Here are some games that they've blown because of fluke plays at the end of the game. missed free throws, or HORRIFIC officiating:
Oct. 23 vs Portland - blew the game late
Nov. 11 vs Sacramento - blew the game late
Nov. 28 vs Indiana - fluke win by IND and buzzer beater by a rookie
Dec. 9 @ Philadelphia - Davis misses free throw with .3 left, lose in OT
Dec. 13 vs. Boston - Davis misses another free throw late
Dec. 23 vs Charlotte - LeBron loses his shoe on his way to an easy layup
Jan. 12 vs Dallas - LeBron gets fouled late in the game, no call
Jan. 15 vs. Philadelphia - another game they blew late
Jan. 28 @ Boston - no call on LeBron layup to win the game
That's 9 games that they should have won if it wasn't for fluke plays and horrific officiating. I'll give the league some benefit of the doubt because they stole the game vs. Memphis last week and probably should have lost to Miami without LeBron and AD, but they should probably be near 30 wins instead of a mediocre 23.
If they can somehow trade the Beverly contract with Lonnie Walker, Damian Jones and the '27 1st for a really good wing, this team can go far if the refs allow it.

Missed calls? My team would also have 7 or 8 more wins.

Yeah its been ridiculous. Hopefully they can make the playoffs not just as a play in candidate cause i think they'd have a good shot of going far if healthy. It they end up 11th seed or worse cause of these dumb losses its going to be disappointing.
Luckily for them a lot of typical playoff teams have also been struggling. Though it makes a lot of teams that probably would have been tanking saying "screw it" and making playoff pushes.

So if they played better at the end of close games and were the only team in the league to not suffer bad calls from the refs, they'd be slightly better.
Much amaze. So insight.

Poor Lakers.
The smallest market in the NBA, never gifted superstars for free or given endless help by the referees.

You make it sound as if Lakers are the only team who has had close losses.
They also had some unlikely comebacks, for example against the Pelicans where they got a miracle 3 to tiee it and then won it in OT.

Wolves will be the 3rd seed if they arent dumbasses and if the refs give them some love at times. Its not only your team that these refs are screwing up. Calm down and move on

What's the point of this thread. You can say the same of every team and its standing. Every team has equal amounts of blown leads and bad calls. So much whining from a lot of you guys after last night. The Lakers are just not a good team. Your closing lineup includes Pat Bev, Shroeder, and Westbrook. They played really well and lost last night. Time to move on.

I remember a few years ago during the bubble playoffs when many Blazer fans were upset about the free throw discrepancy and Lakers ' fans said it was just part of the game. What has changed?

Nothing? It is still part of the game for the Lakers to benefit of officiating. The opposite is not part of the game, so logically it make sense to point this out.

Confirmed by the L2M report, in the last month lakers have had blown calls on the final play of the game that turned 3 wins into 3 losses including last night. Blown calls on the final play are the worst because don’t give you any chance at all to recover unlike mistakes during normal course of the game.
You sure you can say that about every team?

For most of those games, losing a close game is not an excuse for losing a close game (blown leads, missed free throws, etc). Every team has them, and every team gets away with close games that maybe they shouldn’t have won too. Yeah, blown calls suck, but those only directly affect the outcome a select few times.

Most of the things you listed are your own players mistakes

After the last few years it’s hardly a fluke.. the Lakers just aren’t that good

I don't really feel bad about the Lakers but I am growing increasingly concerned about the sheer number of mistakes committed by NBA referees lately that have swung games in our modern age of sports gambling being so easy to access anonymously.
Just being realistic, it would not be very difficult for a referee to make an incredible amount of money by having a friend or relative bet on the outcomes of the games they're calling and then just make enough bad calls here and there to change the outcome of just a few of those games to ensure that they're consistently turning a profit.

Lebron would have 2 less championships if not for fluky plays / bad officiating. See how that works ?
It’s part of the game…
