Maxi kleber

Should we keep this player or trade him straight up for anyone useful this season? He'll be out this whole season and also from what I read on Dallas forum, they don't really like this guy getting minutes when he was there.

I'd say keep him. He does have continuity with Luka and could be back for a possible playoff-run. He was playing 18-20 mpg, so not completely useless.
Also, he is a bad contract at this point, so we'd either get back a similar bad contract or pay to get rid of him.

But if they can turn him into something usefull, i'd say that's fine.

Yeah. I hope they can turn him into something as he's basically dead 10 million this season.

We got less than 3 hours to go; I would say for Rob, get something anything for this player as something will be better than nothing.

The Lakers are now loaded with front court players WAY more talented than Maxi. His contract at $11/mil for this year AND next coupled with his LOW points scored and LOW minutes played, is the sole reason the Mav's DUMPED him on the Lakers!

No one is gonna trade for him unless they attach a 2nd Pick or Cash (or BOTH)..

Best the Lakers can do is see if he will take a Buy-Out, either now or in the off-season...

For some games I watched Maxi, I think he is fine. If he can play, he (and wood) will be our bigs that can spread the floor. Williams and Hayes are inside guys. Maxi will have some use or role once healthy.

Assuming Maxi + assets arent flipped something during the offseason (this is a maybe as the team might value the open cap more to chase a complementry star to future pair with Luka), his role will be bench stretch big. Maxi is pretty trash, but he at least offers a skillset that other Laker big men currently done have (assuming no FA signing or trade is made for a shooting big). I dont have much hopes that Maxi will provide much if any value on the court, but packaging all the salary ballast in him + Gabe along with assets like Kinect4 + remaining draft capital, i dont think will yield much return. Might be better off just letting everyone expire (except first re-sign Luka of course) in 2026/27 FA and have a near completely clean cap sheet (Luka, Reaves, Vando, Knect, Bronny, cap holds) to sign another star. Lebron by that point is ancient and should be on a tiny deal, if he wants to stick around to play with his son.

Let’s keep him, he’s a big body that can space the floor…

Rumors have it that he will be back before the end of the season…

I can see him being a floor spacing five for us in certain lineups

Kleber is more or less finished. He had extremely bad season even before injury. The biggest problem is not his extremely bad 3pts % but that he simply refuses to shoot. Someone, who's making 0.4 3s per game is not spacing anything. Opponents are just leaving him alone and he refuses to shoot or misses the shot. He's unplayable.

Naw I disagree wholeheartedly, I don’t believe he’s unplayable… he was just behind better players…

Washington
Lively
Gafford

Are all better and deserving of minutes over Kleber but that doesn’t make him unplayable

I have watched vast majority of Mavs games, so i know what I'm speaking. He's averaging 19 minutes with 3/3 and 26% for 3, refusing to shoot open shots, that's as unplayable as it gets. Not even talking about him being out for more than 2 months and how that will reflect on his play. Kleber was solid player few years back, unfortunately those times are gone.

I thought his thing was to be a knockdown shooter from distance. If he’s done he’s done, buy him out or trade him for somebody else on his way out who might regain some last nerve twitches due to a change of scenery.

If we are waiving guys for Goodwin and Trey, I think Maxi will be one of those simply because of his injury (like Wood). Goodwin and Trey are outplaying Shake, Cam, Morris, Koloko and Bronny right now. They are more playable than Maxi right now, but one thing that Maxi as a big can offer is shooting. That is the factor that we have to weigh before making the final decision. If he can't come back from his injury this season then I would let either Goodwin or Trey take his place.
