Our coaching staff is badass

Just wanted to point out that the coaches we have are fantastic.

If we can add to it one more thing, becoming a third quarter team who puts opponents away in the third as opposed to letting them back in, we’d very hard to stop.

Besides that, they’ve been absolutely stellar.

We’re ranked #3 in one of the most competitive WC leagues I’ve ever seen.

Well done, JJ with crew!!!

The coaching staff should wear attire from J.Crew.

Yeah a lot of people are eating their words about Reddick about now. But the vibe overall is good between players it looks like, they are bought in on D, can shoot, and it's been fun to watch how dominant this stretch has been. Looking forward to see what chess matches with other staffs in the playoffs goes.

Hopefully they can keep Malone's big mouth shut in the process.

Never really thought coaching was our issue. Still not there with the rest of you. Yeah....JJ is prob better than Ham (who isn't) but I don't think he's an upgrade from Vogel. He's fine. Got no issues with him. But I've yet to see much in the way of the signature wins. Got a nice win over Celtics (they played overtime game night before) and I don't think I've seen anything else.

Not writing the book on JJ.....but I'm holding my opinion until we beat a playoff team we're supposed to lose to....or lose to a playoff team we're supposed to beat. Till then.....it's just business as usual.

JJ Redick is a critically thinking man. I am sure he would focus on a particular problem or specific subject in mind for hours or sometimes not make him fall asleep. I am like this in many respects so I figured while back that even without experience that he would quickly excel and just needed a few dark/low periods to grind out to really grow into it.

Possibly...I hope your right. Alot goes into coaching. Being smart is nice...but you gotta be able to communicate. Let's give Redick some time, and let him sink or swim. This team just fundamentally changed for him. He's also not the master of what pieces he has to work with. Vogel was a really good coach IMO - and then Brick's sorry arse showed up, and suddenly it all sucked. Lets see what the Lakers give Redick over the next couple years to work with....that will go a long way in deciding what a "good coach" he actually is. Sorta like when Walton went 41-2 as head coach of the GS dynasty. No duh....

The future of the franchise hangs much more on Rob's shoulders. He and the FO are gonna need to find the guy(s) to surround Luka that work. Coach can only do so much.

Hoping our 5 on 5 team defense will be able to compensate for losing AD’s defense. I’m also hoping they can unlock Len to become a badass defender.

If we don’t see a significant drop in defensive efficiency, we’re instantly a contender by adding Luka’s offense.

Redick is a basketball savant. And he has a great staff around him. I’m hopeful.

Hopefully right after the Luka trade that he and his staff have spent countless hours watching a ton of game tapes including games played by Dallas in the last playoffs, how they were able to hide Doncic and not be "switch hunted" on defense esp against OKC AND TWolves. Having Gafford AND Lively helped Dallas' defense a ton of course and right now this team don't have those types of centers but have DFS and Vando to somewhat replicate what DJJ and PJ Washington did.
Hopefully Lebron can redirect his focus and energy on defense too, same with Reaves when Luka is doing the heavy lifting on offense.

I have to say I’m blown away by our coaching staff.

It was easy to love the line-up of assistants on paper but to see how it actually expresses itself is awesome. I don’t know who does what but our team’s entire vibe is good, the commitment to defense is there, an offensive system is in place, scouting is solid, they handle roster changes and injuries really well, we compete even with multiple key players injured, there’s a team defense system in place, JJ has Malone’s number etc, etc, etc…

But the most impressive coaching feat in my view has been how JJ is holding Bron and Luka accountable on defense. I haven’t seen Bron play defense like this since his second Olympics. And Luka? I’ve personally never seen him play defense, period. As a one on one defender he’s of course good at reading, but also staying ahead of his man and good at swiping at the ball for steals. He’s not a pushover on that end anymore.

LeBron’s defense has been stellar!!! Both of them seem excited about playing that end of the floor.

Bravo, JJ and staff! :D

After a horrible loss to the bad Nets team, JJ used alternate/code words instead of insulting his players to the media.
He said "we" (instead of they) took shortcuts, translation= They got LAZY!! and didn't do the necessary hard stuff to play appropriate defense. It was noted that they gambled on trying to steal the ball instead of manning up and play sticky man to man defense.
He also used the word "miscommunication" and Luka admitted to the media that "was on me". My guess was JJ very clearly said stop gambling and that he must start running back to play transition defense and stop crying to the refs so much!!
That Phoenix and Spurs game, Doncic seems like he's working harder on defense.
It's interesting to note too that JJ has been limiting Vando's minutes to just 16 mins per last 4 games.

Good points. And yes, having a coach who is highly intelligent sure is good. Since PJ, we’ve had a bit of a drought on that social intelligence front.

Yeah, I’m hoping that maybe it’s because it’s easier to hide Vando’s offense next to potent scorers like Bron, Luka, Reaves than it is next to bench players forced to start. Or maybe he’s saving Vando’s legs realizing he only has one gear. Just hoping for no injuries.

He’s a great effort player and his passing has been good lately. He doesn’t exactly have a silky shooting touch but we need his hustle and toughness.

Vando is straight Dawg! I'm glad, although past injuries, I'm glad this dude is on our team. Every team has to have that tough guy. That element where it's not all fun and games. Vando is that dude. Just keep working on his shot. But otherwise, he covers large areas of the floor with his wingspan, and gets after it defensively

Yup. He’s a total pest on defense. That’s why I thought his injury before the Denver series two years back was such a big deal. He’s our enforcer, a defensively dominant player, a game changer. Murray hates facing Vando. So does Kawhi and every other wing in the league. Hoping for a healthy Vando for the rest of the season…
