I think we have something workable here with Len. Secondly, it proves we were serious about Mark Williams, but Charlotte fkd up

well he's a big body. Likely means Kelly wasn't going to get bought out and they preferred Len's size to Theis

No one (thankfully) dances like MM.....!

I recall watching that live, it reminded me of the old Hindenburg crash...."Oh the humanity...."

I thought Williams would be a good fit. I was glad we got him. But watching Charlotte acting so desperate to force this trade through makes me realize I was totally wrong, and we dodged a bullet here, big time.

Len is gonna surprise people if people think he's just a typical end of bencher. Real good defensive player w/ size. I've seen some commentary saying he was a garbage time player or not in rotation the past 3 years but that's just not true - Sabonis just never missed any games and was playing 36 minutes a night. Len was the primary backup center & routinely beat out guys each year for that spot (example last year, Mike Brown gave Javale McGee & Len time in the backup slot, and Len beat him out. Hence why Games played seems low) & most of the time was the 8-12 mpg backup w/ the Kings. This year, the last month+ has been a little rougher for him & Kings decided to pivot to Valancunis. DeRozan kind of doesn't fit with a guy like Len offensively; on a team with shooters at 1-4 spots, a Center like Len (or Jaxson Hayes) looks much better. It's obvious Len needed a fresh start though, and he should fill in nicely in the backup slot like he has the past couple years. Not flashy, but he's gonna do the little things on both ends that don't show up in the box score.

Yes agreed thank you. The local news all around here is meh on him, but I have been trying to let them know (comments section) that Len just wasnt utilized due to team structure, not because of work ethic or limitation of skill.

I'm giving this dude 1 Mulligan, since he just got off the plane. But we need to see something this second half

I agree, the fact that he is so unwanted around the league is a worry-point for me, his first Laker game was pretty underwhelming to me as well.

Hopefully, he can step it up...

Sorry to be negative...but let's be real here. The guy is 31, and averages 7 points and 5 rebound throughout his career. That's why we got him for nothing. I'd give the guy a couple games to get his bearings.....telling him that we just want defense and rebounds. If he can't get his defense/rebounding up to even just a decent level, after 5-6 games...then just waive him. Better to have the hole and at least know you have the hole.

I'm starting to agree with AndersonHunt: Just go small ball, and see what happens. For those of you who say "there's no way we're beating Denver without a center" I would reply back "no....there's no way we're beating Denver with Len and Hayes at Center"

The reality is, we have no size. We have a pretty garbage PF in F-Smith as well as no center. Sure you can slide Lebron in to that position....and CALL him a PF. But he's not gonna defend anyone good. So we're really not built to go deep in postseason. We've got a couple giant holes, that will get exploited. And of course Luka doesn't help the situation, with his lackluster defense either.

So we might as well push our chips all in on our strengths. Do what we do best, and ride it to the bitter end. Sure....I don't think that will get us very far either....but we're definitely not going far putting DFS and Len and Hayes out there for any real period of time. It's a hail marry pass....but at least its something.

I agree 100%, if Len can't add any more than Koloko, then there is no reason to keep him and Lakers small ball was working pretty darn good IF THE LAKERS ARE SHOOTING WELL. I'm cool with Vando in the middle as well, just cause of his defensive abilities!

Just remember we still need a big BODY to give 6 free HITS onto jokic and get him out of his rhythm/game. Len should be doing this. Should be working out in an MMA facility than on a basketball court to be honest.

While I'm 1000% in the camp of this line of thinking....you still gotta bring something to table besides giving him FT's, and putting the team outa team-fouls with 8 minutes left in the quarter.

I’m starting to think this is a lucky sleeper signing. Thought we lucked out on Williams but glad it didn’t happen if he’s a glass man.

Len is not.

We fortunately don’t need ANY points from him other than putbacks and garbage buckets. Luka and Bron will get him some open looks and lobs.

We need screens and hard nosed physical defense.

Reading above it seems he’s better at that than McGee jut not good enough to edge out Sabonis who is a total stud two way player.

If he indeed has been chomping at the bit, maybe he’ll have a burst of production as a Laker.

Make him look better than he is on offense, Luka.

Turn him into a defensive force and rebounder, JJ!
