LeBron Set to Surpass Shaq's Lakers Games Total & Seasons

Post#1 » by ImmortalD24 » Wed Apr 30, 2025 1:37 am

LeBron will enter year 8 with the Lakers next season is just 96 games away from passing Shaq (who played 8 seasons) for a total of 515 games played with the Lakers. It's remarkable to consider, especially given how synonymous Shaq is with the Lakers' legacy, that LeBron is nearing that milestone despite joining the franchise much later in his career. Is a statue a given at that point? Or would he need another chip?

The LeBron lakers era has been so underwhelming. And I’m generally an LBJ fan.

This man really is gonna have 3 jerseys retired with 3 different teams. Championships with 3 organizations.

He really is the GOAT.

I consider LeBron a true Laker legend. He deserves a statue of course.

He really is the GOAT.

He's going to want two jerseys retired with the Lakers (#6 and #23). Book it.

Well...in his defense, the year after they won the title, AD broke down. Not saying we woulda won...but it was looking pretty good.

After that, the Westbrick deal closed Lebron's chances of another title. That was as much his fault as any though...so he's gonna have to wear that.

Lastly...we did get the guy when he was what? 34-35? There were plenty of people that thought we'd only get two - maybe three at the most - good solid years out of him....and I think we got much more.

-------

Lebron never learned that he's a terrible GM. It ruined his last shot with the horrible trade he demanded the Lakers make. He also did himself no favors commanding the salary he does. If we was serious about another chip....he shoulda taken much less (to be fair....he did offer to take about $20 less this last season, in an effort to get Klay...let's recognize that).

My issue with the Lebron era, is that it's dragging on way too long, at this point. It was a great signing at the start. We won a chip - HUGE - And then there is no denying that we had playing much better basketball than anyone expected 4-5 years into his spell. But at some point it became incredibly obvious (to me at least....there seem to be alot of people who have not arrived yet) that he was no longer able to be the guy. And we've hung on at least 3 years longer than we should have. It's ruined what woulda have been a nice moment in Laker history.

I'd say doubly so...because when he does finally hang them up...we're gonna be a husk of a team, with almost nothing of value, and all future picks we could have used, having been spent. I say almost...because the Lakers did get help from a guardian angel, with the Luka trade. Had Lebron had his way...he woulda left us with a 33-34 year old AD....and then we would've truly had nothing for the future.

So I think you gotta give him a little slack, considering the late stage of his career with which we signed him. But he does need to own a huge share of the Westbrick deal. And the Lakers should have moved on at LEAST 2 off-seasons ago, when they got swept by Denver. That's sort of on them.

We got a ring out of it while in the years prior to Lebron we were bottom feeders. I'll take that haul.

That's as many rings as the Warriors, Nuggets, Celtics and Bucks in the same 5-year period.

Or did anyone here think we'd threepeat with a 38 year old Lebron and a highly competitive NBA landscape?

Personally, I feel Lebron never seemed to be a part of the Lakers' lore as other ATGs because every year (especially in the beginning) people would say it would be the one he would finally break down, seeming he joined for other reasons.

But, for me, he's done enough for us to be put in the upper echelon of Lakers' legends.

If he can get to 3 Laker rings like Shaq we can talk…

LeBron joined the lakers on the back half of his career. He’s used the lakers more than the lakers have really gotten use out of him.

1 ring where AD was arguably the best player. Am I supposed to be impressed by this “goat”?

If LeBron had someone as dedicated and driven and skilled as kobe he might have had three.

AD was pretty elite the entire time.

He has Luka, who was good enough to get to the finals as the best player on his team the year prior.

And he couldn’t even get out of the first round.

It’s time to stop making excuses for LeBron. He is old and he still knows how to get stats but not win.
