I don't think they see Jeanie as a part of the brothers even though they are all family. She should keep her governess job till whenever it is supposed to phase out.

uhhh did they not pick Austin, Caruso, Kuz, and Max Christie?

What worries me here is that there was a political feud over the sale and we ditched the scouting dept... and this is a guy who has gotten used to sports with no real cap issues. NBA has been a place where drafting is huuuuuge for that same reason. He's going to swing for trades instead of being like Spurs drafting and getting strategic trades with the capital we have. I'm a bit concerned about the approach and Jesse really specifically was the guy who found a bunch of talent in multiple rounds and undrafted.

I think they're fine. It's like laying off a VP of a dept at a company; the dept has all the talent and does all the work, the VP basically oversees things. The scouting will be the same, I think they found it best to cut off some toxic people perhaps.

Without reveling on their grave, so to speak, I am definitely glad that people are being cleared out...that new blood will be injected into management. It's high time this "bubble" got popped. I hope they clean house.

I get people are being fired, and all that. But they did sell the team for 10bil...so I think they'll land on their feet. Even the ones not in the family...I'm sure the severance will be up to snuff, and they will all find work somewhere else.

I'm more excited about the future of this franchise than I've been in about 15 years. Very cool.

When you read their statements....it's very clear that they are not happy about this, and blame Jeanie for it. I would guess that this means that Jeanie is intent on sticking around for a while? Would seem that way to me.

I seem to remember that part of the purchase deal, was that Jeanie got to stay on. It sorta looks like the new owners wanna clean house (I think that's great)...or at the very least, break up this family "bubble" in management. Time for new faces and ideas. I'm all in for all of this personally. I seems unlikely that Jeanie will be removed. Especially right in the middle of the season. I have no idea how contractually obligating the part about her staying on is....but the fact that she didn't just walk, means she didn't want to walk. So following that string of logic, I'm guessing she has some sorta strong guarantee for at least a while. One would think, right?

The more cleaning the new owners do...the better, IMO. But if Jeanie goes back to her old job under her father...or is perhaps able to run a better ship when it's not this big family-deal...I'm willing to give it a bit, and see how it goes. Ultimately though....this is no longer her team. She will eventually get overruled on something she feels strongly about, and then it will hit her. We'll she how she copes with that new reality.

I do think she plans to stay around for a long time. I get it. In a way....this is kinda been her whole life. I'm frankly quite shocked she(they) sold. It is my opinion (and strengthened by her brothers comments above) that this thing had gone from a happy family thing to a nasty cut-throat family thing over the years, and was prob not a ton of fun, or healthy for anyone involved. Was it Dr Buss' wish that Joey and Jesse ran the show like they said? Did Jeanie sell just to spite them so they'd never have that? I think there's quite an eye-opening tell-all that will come out one day.

You have the Jim Buss and Kupchak thing a decade back. I think one other family member was on their side. Then the lawsuit and attempted coup. You had Ryan West (Jerry's son) getting fired, and many thinking it was retribution for the stuff his Father was saying. The weird stuff with the Rambis family. The complaints by coaches that Kurt Rambis would come interfere with player/coach meetings. You got the whole thing with Magic leaving and calling Rob a snake.....

I think there's alot of toxicity there.

Whatever....just clear it out, and we can read the book later.

" The Lakers also dismissed much of their scouting department beyond the Buss brothers, including Sean Buss, Aaron Jackson, Moses Zapata and Can Pelister, sources told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. Sean Buss shares the same mother as Joey and Jesse."

So it looks like a major shakeup in that department. This is great news.....I hope this is only the beginning.

Looks like a couple Dodger guys are now starting to help out. Farhan famously utilizes alot of advanced analytics, and all that. I personally have a bit of that old-school "we're not just 1's and 0's" attitude towards analytics...but the dodgers record speaks for itself. And it's been no secret we're far, far, far, behind other NBA teams when it comes to analytics. So I'm open to seeing what they can do with it.

I thought Joey and Jesse did well but I do trust Pelinka’s scouting over theirs. If the Dodgers’ trajectory since 2011 is an indication, the next decade or two will be a good time to be a Lakers fan.

Joey and Jesse unlike Jimmy seem to have done a good job and deserve some praise. And, it’s not like they’re going to starve so I don’t feel too bad for them on that front. The unrepairable family rift part is another story though.

I think I would, but it would pretty light work for humanitarian and invention reasons. I mean... I've thought about this... if my music tech company gets over we are worth north of 3 bil... but I'd like to buy a mountain fill it with dogs/cats and biology students and empty shelters, see if we can then invent something that makes that sustainable and worth while. Approach mental illness/homelessness and such with tech and of course... **** up spotify and all the people taking advantage of musicians including suno and ai bs. f klankers.

20 years ago when I joined this forum I worked for a lady who was bankrupt and a few of us helped her turn it around and sell for 1.5 bil... and the stocks she was paid in quadrupled so she's now worth over 4 billion. As far as I know she has just used it to build mansions and f off completely. she didn't hook us or meaningful charities up at all.. we were told we were lucky to keep jobs going fwd when my algorithm was used for 20 years after that with the purchasing company and just hooking up 2 mill would have been like a 60 dollar tip to most people. Rich folks get really weird.
