Hell No...................! No way in hell this is even a topic.MikeyMike wrote:DJ Mbenga was just released by the Warriors.
Please tell me Mitch is going to add this guy to the roster. I would pay him full MLE type money.
Is there a spot on the roster for him? Can they send Koby Karl to the D-League?
I believe the Lakers have a spot for him. He's not the best player in the NBA, but he's a solid role player.

he's short and has short arms. i see him get rebounded all the time by guys who are more in ship or just longer. plus he's slow on defense. he's a second 2nd string pf, but phil plays him at center, which imo is a huge mistake. we need a 7footer who can block shots at backup C, and that's DJ for you.

I mean seriously, DJ Mbenga? Have you even heard of this scrub before he wa released? I would honeslty put money on the fact that every single player on our roster is better than he is.
Are you implying you don't enjoy the weekly "Get Chris Webber and Steve Francis" threads?
How dare you, sir!

All I'm saying is...
Lakers sorely lack depth at the PF/C positions. Lets take a look;
Bynum is the only good big we have...he is still young and I don't want him to burn himself out...it would be nice if he was still fresh for the playoffs...
Kwame = Only can play man to man D, and set offensive picks. His help D and shotblocking is average/below average and he can't catch the ball....PLUS he is injury prone.
Turiaf = Good, but is an energy guy who should be playing limited minutes off the bench. If he plays too many minutes he also becomes injury prone. IMO, he is also undersized (body of a SF, playing PF)...and should definitely not be playing Center, unless its a small ball line up.
Mihm = Always injured, 'nuff said.
Odom = Bla bla bla, not a true 2nd option...and is more of a guard in a SF/PF's body.
So in conclusion we've got Bynum and Odom.
Turiaf who can come in and play some good limited minutes.
And I don't even want to mention Kwame or Mihm being remotely reliable players due to either/or skill limitations and health issues.
If we could add a big who plays PF/C who is one dimensional would be nice. As long as he at least brings one skill..be it rebounding, shotblocking, scoring, anything.

Fisher, remembered, “We weren’t sitting around waiting for something to happen to become one of the best teams in the league. We set out to become that.”
