Mitch isn't so bad after all... as a report card have to give him a B+, especially after the Ariza trade, I'd say something about Crittenton too but he fell into Mitch's lap

The Nets, Bucks, Cavs, and Warriors stole games from us very late.

Right now given a few bounces of the ball this team could be 27-7 as apposed to 23-11

usually these things even themselves out over a season and we should steal a few games from our opponents.

Honestly almost all his good moves fell into his lap besides Bynum. Farmar was clearly the best left as was Critt and Fisher was a no brainer. Jumping on the Ariza thing was very good though.

I give Mitch all the credit in the world for the Bynum pick. If it were done again he would go 3rd or 2nd to Paul.
I am just saying the pg's were very obvious choices. I also think that if you take away the Caron Butler trade I would give Mitch an Aplus plus. Right now I would say a Bplus.
If I were Jerry Buss I would keep Mitch as the gm.

lets not forget its Mitch that let Fisher walk in the first place, its Mitch that didn't get an all-star in return for Shaq, its Mitch who traded Butler For Kwame! So lets not make the few things he did right like drafting Farmar and Bynum, and trading for Ariza make us think he's done a good job.

The team would be better if he wouldn't of let fisher walk in the first place(Fisher said he would have stayed if he was the starting PG but we had Payton so he left, then Mitch traded Payton for Mihm and Atkins) and if he would of taken back Eddie Jones instead of Brain Grant(both had big contracts), and if he would of kept Butler.

Our linup could have been

PG Fisher/Farmar/Critt
SG Kobe/Jones
SF Butler/Walton/Ariza
PF Odom/Turiof
C Bynum/Mihm

If we had Fisher instead of Chucky Atkins for that horror 04-05 season would we have a record low enough that would land us Bynum?

I'm not so sure myself but I do recall injuries de-railing our season. We were the 6th seed that year. With no injuries and Fisher on board we would likely have had more success and getting Bynum would have been out our reach.

You know what's even more ingenious, Mitch Kupchak signed Smush Parker. Pure genius. Why? Mitch just knew that having a d-league starting backcourt mate would piss off Kobe, because he knew that a pissed off Kobe would eventually blast Bynum and motivate him. But how to catch Kobe in the act? Ever wonder who invented the camera phone? Mitch Kupchak.

I don't understand why people are so hung on throwing Kupchak under the buss every chance they get.

This Laker team is positioned for a Dynasty thanks to the front office demonstrating patience and not ditching a rebuilding effort for a quick overnight fix (like a Kidd, or Garnett) then putting us in caproom hell and having to rebuild all over again 2 years down the road when Garnett/kidd is over the hill and costing us $20 million a season.

I'd take the nucleus we have now (young, improving, affordable) with a fringe all-star in Odom, and a legend like Kobe at the helm.

Kupchak is doing a fabulous job, and I'm grateful he's calling the shots and not Kobe, or the rest of this laker community.

You guys are telling me you like the Butler(all-star) for Kwame(bust) trade? Cause when that trade went down everyone knew Kwame was a bust, but watching Butler play with the lakers I saw flashes of greatness (well maybe not greatness but goodness). When I first head of that trade I couldn't believe it! We had a very good young player and Mitch trades him away for NOTHING!

Witch made the Shaq trade even worse cause we end up with Brian Grant(who we cut), Kwame brown, Lamar Odom, And Jordan Farmar. Mitch turned what was a desent trade for Shaq into a horrible trade by getting rid of Butler. But if he ends up getting a decent or good player for Kwame then I could change my mind on him. he's not the worst GM but he's def not the Best. I would give him a C-

Putting it this way....

If we could re-wind to the summer when all Laker fans were praying to land KG and knowing what we know now (how this team has grown, eg Drew, Farmar)......

How many would still pull the trigger to package Bynum and several others to get KG? Has there been some poll on this that I may have missed, but I am curious to know.
