Will Bynum be our Second Leading Scorer?

As we all know, Bynum has ARRIVED and is playing above even OUR expectations as of late... That being said, I have been tracking his increased scoring average throughout the season and it appears he will surpase LO as our second leading scorer by the end of the year (His average has rose from 10.1 PPG to 13.2 PPG over the last 18 games)... In the beginning of the year we all felt LO was a lock for the second leading scorer and his biggest competition would be from Luke or Fisher... Their respective averages are as follows:

Lamar Odom 13.6 PPG
Andrew Bynum 13.2 PPG
Derek Fisher 12.5 PPG

I personally think he will pass LO but wanted to get everybody else's thoughts... In addition, do you think 18 points, 12 boards and 3 blocks a year is out of the question for next year...

Yes and he should be our 2nd leading scorer. Your supposed to run your offense through the dominant big man. Bynum is starting to dominate

Yes, he will be. I think that's a good thing because now it takes the pressure off of LO to be that guy. LO just needs to keep doing what he's doing -- get us 13-14 a game hit the glass hard.

Yes, and that's great cuz Odom doesn't have to play with as much pressure as he used to. He can share the scoring load with Bynum just fine.

Yes he will likely be our second leading scorer. Someone should resurrect the thread where we made Bynum stat predictions for this season. I'm curious to see who was the closest at the break and at the end of the season.

I think he is our second option , and Im glad that he is since Odom couldnt step up and perform as well as we hoped him to or what we expected from him.
Which brings up a good point .
Kwame , is probably out by the end of the season and leave us with 9 mil and hopefully we can let L.O go as well and we can take that money and put it to good use instead of wasting it on worthless talent as we have been .
I cant wait .

Lamar is perfect as a third option anyways. This makes us that much better.

If Bynum keeps progressing and getting touches other than lobs and put-backs, then we will have a pretty legit big 3 of our own.

Yep, as others have said. Bynum has arrived and I'm pretty sure Lamar's perfectly fine being a 3rd option...he's shooting his best FG%(49%) as a Laker and careerwise.

Hell, I think Bynum AND Fisher will surpass Odom in PPG when the season is all said and done, which isn't really a bad thing.

Odom will never be what we wanted him to be when he came to the Lakers, but as the utility player he is, and should be, our team will be that much better.

lamar should be resigned to a reasonable contract next offseason. once that 13 mil salary tag is gone, it'll all be good.

Bynum - I think the question is how we can increase his touches even more. Barring injury, he's going to average at least 16 points by the end of the season.

Fisher - Fisher is increasingly looking for his shot. He knows his role, and he's letting it fly. I think he has the ultimate green light from everybody, so I see him averaging at least 12 points this season.

Odom - he's getting fewer possessions seemingly every game. The offense is working very well, and while he has a part, he's not the primary or secondary ballhandler anymore. He's not a very good off-the-ball player, so his opportunities are limited, as we've seen. But Odom's commitment to rebounding is a major reason why we're one of the league's best rebounding teams. His role will be rebounding, trying to play defense, moving the ball, and scoring when he has an opportunity.

Odom as a third scorer is the best thing that could happen to this team. He plays Defense, rebounds and moves the Ball. I hope we win a ring for Odom for his warrior mentality and his son.

Good analysis on Odom. I notice that while he doesn't score he can always find people for the easy score and is very good at moving the ball. We basically have an above average passer at every position except PG in our starting lineup.

Odom is our utility man. Rebounds, passing the ball, maybe hit the open jumpshot or the layup just to keep the defense honest.

On defense he actually works really hard when bigger PFs try to post him up, I like that. I've come to realize that just because the guy doesn't wanna score doesn't mean he doesn't have heart. He simply doesn't have that Kobe "I always have a mismatch" mentality, even though he really does haha.

Yes. Bynum will average close to 20 points from now on.
Odom is Rasheed Wallace in that he just wants to fit in on a team and not be a main go to guy as much. That is why Sheed is averaging about 13 and so will Odom.

Bynum is very close to Odom in scoring avg playing 7 minutes less per game. If he played the same number of minutes, he would easily average more than Odom.

This is a good thing. Our offense is better when we run it thought the big fella.
Odom's role will be mainly rebounding and playing defense as other posters have mentioned. That's fine since he really did not function well as a second scoring option. Thank goodness Bynum, Fisher, and Farmar have stepped up their games.

Bynum will be our second option, with Fish and Odom as our third. Odom feels much better when he doesnt have the lights all around him. Fish understands when he needs to lead and does so. Health is the key to our success.
