Does anybody else think Luke Walton can play pf?

He won't have to do it fulltime because of Odom but when I think the Lakers can go with a lineup at times of

Ronny
Luke
Ariza
Kobe
Farmar/Fisher

At times when Odom is taking a breather or when he gets injured.

He is 6'8 235 pounds. The average pf is 6'9 or so but there are plenty of 6'8 pf's. Luke has a post game and is not skinny but actually kind of muscular. If Grant Hill and Marion can play pf and Diaw played a whole year at Center why couldn't Luke play pf?

If he can do it then they could play Kwame less I believe.
They can even go with a lineup of

Odom 10 rebounds
Luke He would rebound more there so 7 boards
Ariza With fulltime minutes 7 boards
Kobe 6 boards
Fisher 3-4 boards

Bench players that he should play imo

Ronny
Sasha
Critt
Farmar

That is a small but much more talented lineup then the one with Kwame. I don't know if it would work but with Bynum out he should explore it.

Which is a much more talented lineup then any lineup with Kwame as a starter.
They should at least try it vs the Suns which they don't lose size at any position.

your suggestion is to go small against the suns? wow.

No, my suggestion is to try it then for a short period of time.

The real question is can Luke Walton play pf?
He is obviously not a big guard type of sf he is just not big. If he were 6'11 he would be a Center. I believe he should try and play pf and that would help us keep Kwame's minutes down and Ariza's up.
Wouldn't that be a good thing?

How about Luke being our new center? He can be like big Ben a short center, after all Ben is only an inch taller then Luke. All we need to do is pump Luke up a bit so he will be stronger.

:lift:

Just watch Luke after all this lift's he will out avg. Big Ben inside.

Luke needs to go to the bench, so Ariza can start and set the tone offensively and defensively. Plus, Kobe has good chemistry with athletic players, and Luke is far from athletic. Dude shoots soft like a girl and can't make his layups.

Walton does play PF on occasion, for several possessions in one of those rare games. Against certain teams, he can do it. Last year, he had some great post moves to his game. This year, establishing Bynum in the post has become the priority, so Walton's game is reduced to the perimeter.

The biggest problem with Walton is his size. He's less than 6'8" barefoot. He doesn't have long arms. He doesn't jump high. Marion doesn't have size, but he's so athletic he can play big. Walton can't.

Moreover, Walton lost weight since coming into the league. He was a tweener, and he committed himself 2 summers ago to become a quicker smaller forward. So he doesn't have the weight or strength to play PF either.

He doesn't have the size or athleticism to be our power forward. He also can't rebound like a PF, nor does he have the midrange jumper, a bread-and-butter weapon of true PF's.

your OTT hatred of Kwame Brown is outstanding and i'm not really sure why you think he has no value as a player in this league. Hes an ok defender and I think he is definitely worthy of being Bynum's backup and really a great back up. Unfortunately Bynum has got himself injured so the Backup has to play and its just a matter of him raising his game for 2 months. It happens all over the league when starters get injured, you just got to deal with Kwame Brown playing large minutes for 8 weeks, which is what he has been doing the last 2 years anyway.

I agree with all your points
except for the last one..
Walton can shoot the ball, just because he stands outside the arc all day doesn't mean he doesn't have the midrange jumper. If you have the ability to shoot from the 3, my bet is that you have the ability to shoot from mid range.

Mr. Star or Kelel would you like to tell us why you chnaged your name? I know there were two people with "Star 24" name on here was that the reason?

I just felt Star is much better then Kelel, but if you want us to call you Kelel that's fine.

OH and I's with you as far as Picking up Webber and dropping Kwame. The sooner we get rid of Cakeboy the better it will be for us.
