DJ Mbenga, not Webber, will join Lakers

Via a reliable source (the one I cited with the 4-8 weeks on Bynum before the MRI hit Espn, he also nailed the Ariza deal before). He's been great so far and he says the Lakers will sign 10-days while they wait for Drew to return. Mbenga was also in attendance tonight.
While things could change, don't expect them to. As of now the Lakers don't want to play more than the minimum, which is now pro-rated, for Webber. They want a young shot blocker.

just give credit to gumbygld at CL, instead of calling him a reliable source as if you're breaking the news...
unless you are him...

That's who it is. I never said it was mine. I was just letting you guys know - it's not like my ties with CL is secret or anything.

Hopefully it's Stephane Lasme. I'd love it if we signed Lasme.

why not bring popeye jones too so we can have the sexiest team in the league . . kinda hard to take that away from the clippers with kaman and cassel in their lineup

His highest minutes per game in his career was this year at 8. I just don't see how this is going to be the guy we need.
Apparently we're going for one of those mosquito bite band aids.

Just what we needed, another big man who can finish around the rim as well as the 6 years old I played at the elementary school with the other day. Well, I guess at least this one can block a shot or two instead of protect the basket like a scarecrow.

First post is the source if anyone is wondering.
I believe we're gonna get Webber.

Gumby is the same dude that claimed Kidd was talking loudly at a shoot around how he would be in L.A. within a week. Thx for the info, though. Gumby did call the Ariza, and the Bynum injury.

Anybody but Webber, he is a great dude, Im sure, but he is cursed, cursed I tell you, signing him will guarantee the Lakers wont win the championship this year. Remember the Pistons last year............

gumby is a poster from the club lakers forum who has reliably broken stories like the Ariza trade and the Bynum injury (the type and time missed). Proven to be a reliable source.

Quick question... Why would DJ be a better option than say, Mark Gasol?
They both seem pretty green... I really don't know anything about either, but, if we're just looking for a 7'er then why not look at the one we already have?
Is Mark's international contract an issue?

That's decent I suppose, but the thing is that we can't pay more than the minimum as we're over the salary cap....

Most likely, since we have to buyout his contract first before bringing him here.

DJ Mbenga is a lot like Kwame Brown without the offense and rebounding.

What about Elton Brown in the D League. isn't he ours? His lines have been insane putting up 20 points and 19 boards the other night. Can we bring him up?
