Trying to stay positive
I am sorry but I am like Charles Barkley in the sence that I feel without Bynum the Lakers are a 8th seed at best. I think we will slip worse then last year even though this team is better then last years the west has gotten alot better.
So I am looking for ways to stay positive and I think I found them
1. We could have close to what happened to the Spurs in 96-97 happen to us were a really good team losses there allstar big man cause of an injury but not a serious lingering injury just one that makes him miss alot of the season and then we get into the lotto and although we probably wouldn't win odds are (Knicks and Heat will get 1 and 2 I think) we could end up with a top 10-14 pick mostly likely closer to 14 but that just might get us Kevin Love who would be a perfect Power Forward for us. All the stuff about him being to slow and unathletic will not matter. He is an extremely hard worker who is getting into really nice shape and is fundamentally solid as Tim Duncan. He can also play some C and PF. He is not only the perfect triangle PF but the perfect pf to put next to Bynum with his passing and outside game but also the perfect pf to put with Kobe with his passing because the man passes like Steve Nash. He will go down in history as the best passing big man ever.
Very slight chance Mayo slips past 5 and we get him or make a trade for him but could you imagine Mayo and Bynum along with Kobe and whoever we trade Kwame and Odom for?
2. Phil Jackson and Mitch and some of you who have blinders on will finally realize Kwame is absolutely garbadge and is a cancer and not because he is a ballhog or has a bad attitude but because he should not be in the nba. He is that bad and after seeing a real Center Mitch will get rid of him one way or another.
3. Mitch will learn another leason which is even though we were winning and even in first place we are not as deep as we would like to believe and we still need to make a trade and Mitch will in all likely make that trade.
4. I think with players having to step up guys like Farmar and Critt will get more pt because they are scorers and have potential to help them and will probably be brought along faster now. Fisher has been a godsend to get me wrong but I think a huge factor in his shooting %'s was Bynum and I don't believe the same can be said about Farmar.
5. If I am wrong and the Lakers do make the playoffs even though Bynum will be coming off an injury he is still more valuable then every other player besides Kobe combined and he will not hit a wall. He will have enough time to play his way back into shape for the playoffs and he will be fresh. He will probably also be doing alot of work on his upper body since he can't do cardio now so by next year he could come out looking like DHoward body wise and honestly you might think I am a homer but I believe Andrew Bynum is the most skilled Center in the league and if his body was like Dwight's we could be seeing next year a 21 year old Center who averages 25 points 15 rebounds and 3 blocks. Combine that with Kobe Bryant and we get another 3 championships at least.
6. We possibly get Chris Webber. Not alot of you are excited about Webber and there is a chance we don't get him but you should be excited about him. We need a pf and he is the perfect triangle player even slow when we play teams that make you play in the half court like the Spurs and the Pistons. When Bynum comes back if Webber is there we have an excellent frontcourt in every player except for Kwame Brown and Radman but Radman is really just like a huge guard we put out there sometimes.
7. This probably happened already but just in case it didn't it will now, Kobe Bryant will have more trust in upper management for not trading Bynum for Kidd which is something he probably would have never thought to be the case espially only a few months after. I don't think Kobe would approve sending out Bynum for Kidd. I think Bynum not only is the franchise for the Lakers for the next 2 decades but he comes close to what Jason Kidd would have done for Kobe by drawing defenders away from Kobe and being that big man. He makes everybody that much better and Kobe and Phil will really see that now and although I don't believe Kobe needed to anymore Phil clearly did because he was going to put Bynum back on the bench (idiot).
8.Ronny was getting no minutes. Now he will get as many minutes as he can handle and he will need to learn to stay out of foul trouble. Once this happens he will be a much better defender and when Bynum comes back when Odom falls asleep in the game Ronny can be put in and possibly become as good as Haslem.

ON behalf of RealGM, would you please change your name back to Star? Please dude.
This morning ESPN was talking about the Lakers and Kwame Brown. What's interesting is they said Kwame got booed from introduction. Laker fan's basically had enough of him, and were booing him from the start.
And that played a big role on Kwame, part of the reason he did not perform really well was because he is very emotional guy and that made a huge affect on his confidence.
So now where do we go from here?
As Start said we need to stay positive, but how can we when we have Kwame.

Yes, change your name back to Star24. If you like Smallville, then you'll like Heroes a lot more.
Going back to the topic, I hope they get Webber, but I doubt they will. Phil Jackson is still going to make the players "figure things out". Every team goes through injuries, but only elite teams stay on top. Even if this year goes bad, next year is ours.

You guys like star better? I am surprised. I usually got made fun of for that name. I also watch Heroes and all of those shows, even supernatural. Not a nerd though. What is wrong with Kalel24? It's superman and Kobe's number and it also is the number of my favorite non Laker RJ.
(I pray every single night they trade Odom for RJ and what kills me is RJ would give them 10 more wins and we can get him for Odom)
As for Kwame he is really so bad it is starting to make me sick. He could have the entire world cheering him on and it wouldn't matter, he doesn't belong in the league.
Kwame went down and the Lakers became the best team in the West.
Bynum goes down and watch what happens in the next 30 days.
What kills me is some people here think he is good and Phil Jackson was saying Kwame will get his starting job back when healthy before Bynum went down. Will somebody please explain to me how somebody who gets paid 10 million dollars a year to sopposedly know about basketball Phil Jackson could play Kwame? How does he think Kwame is good? How how how?
Dont actually answer that because if somebody tells me why Kwame is good I am going to throw up.

I forgot to defend my post. The basic point is I am dying for Kevin Love to be a Laker and if we get the 14th pick I think we got a real shot. According to nbadraft.net if we had the 14th pick we wouldn't be to far off from Mayo but I don't think he will slip past 3. Gorden is to small to go before Mayo imo.
The Lakers are young and there window is not closing. I personally trust Mitch more with Bynum and Farmar both being the biggest steals of the 05 draft and 06 draft. I have seen teams get more then 1 steal but to get the hands down biggest steals of 2 drafts in a row in unheard of but I don't quite trust them fully when it comes to making deals. They never got Artest, they traded Butler and they passed on Marion and RJ to keep an inconsistant Odom. My point being is we need 1 more player for long term and also one more if we were going to have a chance at beating the Spurs and this is a chance.
Honestly if the Lakers didn't make the playoffs these past 2 years I would have been crushed and depressed but this year if they don't make the playoffs I will not be upset and it is because the drafts are way more deeper with the 19 year old rule and the fact that we are so very close but we do need that 1 more player who can be a potential allstar or close to it or a really really good role player who could step up in situations like this and be stars. If we get into the lotto and either A.win the lotto by divine intervention and get a Mayo or b.We get the last pick and get Kevin Love I believe we would win a championship next year.
I don't trust Mitch to make that last move to win it all but I trust him to draft that last player we need to win a championship.
I think if we get Love and we have this as our starting 5 for the next 10 years we could be a dynasty
C. Andrew Bynum-Imo when he turns 22 he will be the best center in the gme.
PF.Kevin Love- He is a cross between Tim Duncan and Luke Walton. A poor mans Duncan but a rich mans Luke
SF.Lamar Odom- I know people say he is better at the 4 but with this depth he can play the 3. Even if his man constantly gets by him we have 2 centers protecting the basket and he has a real advantage height wise
SG.Kobe Bryant- Superman plays basketball and turns black
PG.Jordan Farmar- I think he will take Fisher's starting spot by midseason next year and I also think he makes Critt expandable and also he is our future pg not Critt.
Our bench would be pretty damm good to
Gasol
Ronny
Ariza
Critt
Fisher
Luke
Sasha

There is also Patterson and Thompson. Even if they get the 8th seed which actually could end up being the best thing that happens to us because we could get a real quality player and make the playoffs and like I said get a Patterson or Thompson and maybe even Kevin Love if they package Critt and there pick to move down a few spots.
If we kept up the rate we were going we would have had the 28 or 29th pick. Even good drafting skills may not be enough when it's that low because there could be nobody left.
I personally think this draft is better then last year's and I think they will be the first one's to win the rookie/sophmore game.
Beasley
Rose
Mayo
Gorden
Love
DeAndre
Greene
Batum
Plus all the other quality centers who will go before 20.
Bayless

charles also felt the lakers wouldn't make the playoffs the last two years. he also said at the beginning of this season that he didn't think the lakers would be any good. align yourself with charles at the risk of looking like a complete douche

I feel you, some guy named Kalel24 is posting like the beloved Star24.crazyeights wrote:This thread isn't as positive as the title led me to believe. Personally, I feel misled.
