Bynum doesn't like waiting game
Richard Hartog / LAT

And finally, he spoke.
Andrew Bynum met with reporters for the first time since the diagnosis heard 'round the NBA, a knee injury that left Lakers fans wringing their hands while media members scrambled to look up the word "subluxation."

Bynum, who will be out at least eight weeks, expressed the optimism of a 20-year-old but also showed the restraint of a veteran while speaking before the Lakers played Phoenix on Thursday at Staples Center.
"I think I'll have about 20 games when I come back," he said. "I think that's enough time to get myself acclimated, get back into a rhythm with my teammates and all that."

On the brighter side, Bynum said he was pleased that Kobe Bryant recently said the team was "championship caliber" with him in the lineup.
"It makes me feel good. I've earned a little bit more of his respect," Bynum said. "I think that we have the talent on this team and if we come together and play as a unit, I think we'd be able to beat anybody in this league."
just a sprinkle of positive vibe on our troubled times

This time next year barring injuries, we'll be a feared contender in the West.

Nice find. I think that Bynum has plenty of time to work himself back in and become even better by the time we hit the playoffs. While it would be nice to have a high seed, I don't feel it's necessary.

If we're contenders at full strength then we'll find a way to win on the road.

i have to say, i like how he's handling things. he could easily have been a baby about things. his response makes it possible for us to move towards a championship.

Dude has the charisma of a 20 year old and the IQ of a veteran.

Doesnt it remind you of a certain 6'6", 220 lb shooting guard when he was 20 and on his third year when he banged up his knee as well???

Bynum quote:

"I can't do anything. It's terrible," Bynum said. "I have to sit on the couch all day. I have to take it one step at a time. I think I'll have about 10 games when I come back. If I can come back before that, it's great. It's going to take me a little bit of time to get into my rhythm."

this is what I read. I hope he has 20 games.

Well I still think we can make a strong push in the playoffs. When we get Drew back, and hopefully trade Cakeboy along with Space Cadet for a decent PF, or even Kidd.

It's because of Kobe's tirade that Bynum has matured so much. :D

Maybe it did motivate him, nonetheless it was Bynum who put in the time and effort to get better. We nor Kobe can't take that away from him.
