Gasol Question

I don't know if this is sopposed to be a trade thread because I am not saying theyy should or making proposals or anything it's a little different although if it was sopposed to be in the trade thread my bad.

When the Lakers drafted Marc Gasol I thought it was because they would be going after Pau. Now he is available if you take Cardinal and we need a big man yet no rumors. This leads me to assume we just drafted Marc for Marc. Did anybody else think this way or was I just reading to deep into it?

This is an excellent question that deserves it's own thread.

Having Shammond and Evans didn't help us get Garnett did it?

My sentiments exactly
i would imagine there have been certain occasions where a player decided to goto a team simply because a friend or relative was playing there but at the end of the day this is a business not school yard ball, therefore going to a team requires many ducks be lined up in a row not just one..if you know what i mean :-)

Marc should be a solid addition next season if he came. Id do a Pau for Odom + 1st rounder in a second. But Memphis is probably asking for too much, thats why we havent heard any rumors.

Also isnt tonight the spurs game? Where's the game thread?

but i think when we drafted marc, everyone wanted to believe pau would just coming running to LA
maybe thats what mitch was thinking too
but that didn't happen, and i assume they got marc for marc
to develop him into a servicable big man

True, on the other hand look at Carter and T Mac they were on the same team, and look what happened

I doubt that Mang , I think Marc got drafted cause he was a big man with decent hands and he has good fundamental basketball skill and knowledge which most European players do.
Yet Im not going to deny the fact that the F.O probably thought that what they saw in Pau's ability and skills might reflect on Marc as well .
Again IMO .

we drafted marc because they feel he will be a good player.
he is putting up better stats than his brother did in the same league.

he could be good.

Great question. I wondered the same thing. But Mimphis would have wanted a lot from us.

At this point in the season Marc Gasol is the MVP of Spain's ACB League - world's toughest next to the NBA. With Akasvayu Girona he's averaging 16.3 ppg, 7.4 ppg, 1.8 apg, 1.9 spg, 1.2 bpg in 32.5 mpg, and shooting 62.5% from the floor (41.7% from 3 pts) and 70.7% from the stripe. He's obviously a big prospect on his own, Pau or no Pau, and he's blossomed into a major European star this season. He is leading the ACB in minutes played, BTW - quite the iron man thing. He'll be a starter for Spain in the Olympics.

Marc Gasol led Girona to a big win (91-70) today on the court of Pamesa Valencia, one of the leading Spanish clubs, with 18 points (6-8 FG, 6-6 FT), 14 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists and 1 block. He was named MVP of the 19th ACB playing date (all clubs play on the same day in Spain, and one MVP is chosen per week), his fifth MVP of the season.

A more serious question...

Does anyone else think we may just let Kwame walk this summer and bring over M Gasol?

Bynum/Gasol/Mihm

Looks good to me... cheap too
